what will happen when the rural fire dept pulls its trucks from the fire dept. insurance rates will rise. the city won't be able to replace them fast enough, not only that but that means the city fire dept. might loose some money for personel from the rural dept also. Quick needs to kiss some rural ass fast.
Trying to manufacture a crisis? I checked into this myself. This isn't likely to happen, since the Rural Fire ASSOCIATION is not a fire department, has no fire station, has no firefighters, and I doubt the association brings in the half-million or so it takes to run a fire department each year. Or maybe you would support having volunteer firefighters? I doubt the city will make cuts to its fire department over losing the $25,000 or so per year it gets to contract with the Rural Fire Association either. And the city has its own trucks. But other than that, you are right on with your sh!t-stirring! No asses need kissed and no problems have occurred. But if you can make one, you will be happy to do so, right?

I think as much as we pay to them they should
beable to seperate and run their own business.
To bad if a few fireman have to leave I'm tired
of them bleeding all of us to death. Lonnie Quick
could retire as far as this town cares. He's has
saved enough basements for this generation or is it
nine generations.

Yes, those $30,000 a year kings are killing the city, all 6 or 7 of them! Why don't you move to some community that thinks more like you and leave the rest of us in this century. I'm sure some redneck town in southern Missouri or northern Arkansas would love to have your 1955 thinking!

Ed, you, Terrie, Marsha, Jim, Brenda, Sam Coleman and the GOOOON need to get over trying to get rid of the Fire Department, this town is smart enough to know we need these men. if I am not mistaken they have helped each one of you and the thanks they get is the hassle you have caused them for so many years. Get over it. Your time has passed, Queen Terrie is off the council, Ed and Jim are getting real OLD, Sam is not the brightest light, Marsha needs to go back to area 51 in NM, and the goooon needs to get a job. Oh, and Brenda....just put a sock in it and that should do the trick.

Its time for new blood in the dept outside the city of Richmond to get anything changed..Lonnie did good but is stuck in the 1980 way of firefighting. Techniques and ways have changed yet the dept hasn't. The city only owns the pumper, old Ass aerial, and half of the rescue nothing else. The rural dept owns everything else....just Fyi for the person saying the city owns the trucks....if you want change it has to be voiced to the council and the rural fire board at the monthly meetings.

I agree we need some new blood with new idea's not the same old same old. I am not for the old ways, if richmond is to continue to grow, we need new out side ideas and that goes for everything from the city. to the schools not just beat us with new taxes and than nothing gets done. We need new faces
with new ideas not personal agenda's for the next
nine generations of familys in this town. This kind
of mental thinking keeps us in the same old mess. And your right go to meetings and most of all Vote and don't VOTE for a family name.

You are for modern ways of doing things, but you think 5 or 6 firemen making $30,000 a year is too much for Richmond to have. Contradiction.

You obviously are not a fireman, yet you are an expert on the fire department? I think you know very little about it, and I doubt your statements are even close to being true. But I will find out for sure!

GUEST tell your boss to use some breath mints
when he is drinking especially after lunch. If the
two departments seperate will we the citizens be
asked to pay for the new equipment they will
need. Obviously! Now that would be a contradiction
of are money not well spent wouldn't it! How about the fire castle they have was that not a contradiction of what was discussed at city hall meeting. I do believe so. Enjoy your castle! We paid for it. Hows the exercise equipment coming is
that working! How about the website with the sexy girls on it was that not true either! Welcome to the real world Mr. Guest. Welcome to the tax payers world.

You are going to owe guest an apology, cause he is right, about the fire equipment. He is not suggesting he is an expert on anything just trying to get some facts out there. Both parties, rural and city need each other for public safety.

Actually insurance won't raise because they are already ranked the highest at a 9/10 for NO COVERAGE and if you don't believe me call your insurance agent and ask. Improvements are needed so insurance can decrease like Orrick, Wood Heights, Lawson have done over the past few years. There is nothing wrong with volunteers as you say cause every department around has them and works great as long as the Chief has the knowledge and experience to do it...

Richmond City only owns a couple trucks so maybe thats why you should ask Quick why he hands his city back $40-$50,000 a year back instead of replacing equipment like they should be. maybe you should check into what the firefighters union is making him do.

Yes, Richmond should try to be more like Orrick, Wood heights and Lawson! Good plan. And as emergency services moves backwards to meet Orrick, Wood heights and Lawson, we can also have gravel streets in town, farm animals raised in town, one cop on duty most of the time and no cops on duty some of the time, and who would Richmond call for help on a fire, since Richmond is the department that Orrick and Wood heights calls when they don't have any volunteers show up for a fire? As you make Richmond more like Orrick, Wood Heights and Lawson, you can also expect the population to soon match Orrick, Wood Heights and Lawson, and you can expect the same number of stores, resteraunts, gas stations and services offered as Orrick, Wood Heights and Lawson. Great plan there! Sure to kill the town of Richmond.

I guess I don't follow what masquerades for logic on this board. Quick should be fired because his department costs the city too much money, and he should be fired because he saved the city $50,000 out of the lowest budgeted department in the city. Does that really sound like a logical argument to anyone?

More likely you don't like Quick for some personal reason, but can't come up with any legitimate reason for him to be terminated. Why not get over your grade school mentality and leave the man to do his job? If there were any legitimate reason to fire Quick, Ed Swofford would have done so when he was mayor, or when he was running the city council, or when he was city administrator. He didn't because he couldn't without getting sued because he had no legitimate reason to do so. End of story, let it go! Your personal grudges destroy the future of the city.

Why are you bashing the Orrick, Wood Heights and Lawson Fire Depts.? The department in Orrick is a good department and the same goes for the Lawson Fire Dept and Wood Heights. They all respond to help each other when a "Mutual Aid" call goes out to them, just like Richmond responds to Orrick, Lawson and Wood Heights for Mutual Aid when requested. For your information, Orrick, Lawson and Wood Heights are not departments that are moving backwards. They may all be small town departments and the towns may be small but they are working constantly to move forward. Trouble with Richmond is there is way too much politics involved along with sour grapes like you that want to put them down.
