Maybe a parenting issue. Don't think there is a comparison in the numbers. The school has nothing to do with. Everything starts at home. Sorry!!!

I feel sorry for the way you are being treated.

Model Lab School 2012 average composite score 21.7
Ky Public School 2012 average composite score 19.5

Minimum score required on ACT for acceptance to UK is 21.

Not too impressive.

You really are a piece of work. You are just spewing nastiness in every one of your posts. There are a lot of valid concerns in this thread but you really undercut each one with your attitude. I hope Model stays open just for the fact I don't want to chance having your child in a school my child attends. Really I want Model to stay open because there would be a lot of disappointed kids who would lose their school. However, you are not doing them any favors. I would look in the mirror before you call anyone a redneck again.

Not sure where you get your info from but there is no comparison to the number of pregnancies between the school. Model doesn't have any and I know the others do. There was an 8th grader at a middle school that was pregnant. Students at central even have sex at school. It's a know fact. I think I would try to find something else to spread false info about.
For someone who doesn't want anything to do with public schools, you certainly think you know a lot about them. This post is ridiculous and completely a joke. Why don't you take your own advice and get your facts straight.

There's a really good chance it will close. If it stays open look for tuition to go up significantly to cover costs.

Sorry stupid, but you are wrong. I attended UK and did not take any form of ACT test.

ALL that is required to attend any school is the cash. You have the cash, you don't have to bother with test.

You have to have an ACT to apply to the state universities. If you are taking classes without one you are probably attening one of UK's community colleges and not UK if that. More than likely just full of crap.

It must be a who you are thing because I attended UK, graduated in 2010 and I did not, and that is NOT take any form of ACT test either. So the poster is probably right.

Oh my Degree is labeled University of Kentucky.

Per UK admissions office website. Either an official ACT or SAT score must be submitted with application for admission. Google is your friend if you are going to make up stories.

I understand that many must have the ACT or SAT to enroll. I was not in that group.

I am a Chemistry Major in my semester at UK and I did not test to get in. I simply paid the tuition. Moved into the dorm, and went to work.

Since I am the third person in this situation, on this forum, I think you may be wrong.

Model has turned out some of the best and brightest minds in Madison County. Get a clue! Here are some Model graduates that would love to hear your opinion in person:
1. Judge Jennings;
2. Judge Logue;
3. Judge Neal;
4. Assistant Commonwealth's attorney Tom Smith;
5. Attorney Brooke Bowman;
6. Attorney Jim Baechtold;
7. Kentucky State Trooper Brian Bowman;
8. Gus Benson -- administrator EKU;
9. Karen Benson -- physical therapist;
10. Kentucky State Troopers Keith & Chad Pearcy;
11. Attorney Meena Mohanty;
12. Kevin Durham; co owner liquor mart;
Those are just a few of many. Model turns out more professionals per capita than any other school in the state. With graduating classes of 50 or less that is a pretty good result.
So hate on dumb rednecks, these folks are far more successful and respected than most people who badmouth Model. Wait? I guess that is all just an accident.
Regarding most of these people not all of them they didnt use their brains to get where they r and many off them are drug addicts. Yes they might have nice jobs but they keep a lot hidden in their personal lives.

I really,Really, really like Really's posts on here. You can tell the ignorant ones on here. We can tell where you went to school and dropped out, got girls pregnant in middle school, was with Linda Chase etc. To those that are arguing over ACT and SAT testing,,,,you haven't darkened a door at UK.

State universities use the ACT for in state students and SAT for out of state students as the initial guide not only for admission but to determine whether or not they have to take further placement tests and subsequent remedial and developmental courses like English 090. You cannot gain admission out of high school without one or the other.

I am curious as to why this is even being debated but I attended UK. Graduated in 2008. I may have been the exception, but I did not take the ACT or the SAT. I simply enrolled and paid the bill.

But what difference does it make?

Has anyone here considered that Model students must take the test to see if they can hack it in a real school.

I'd say most Model grads go to EKU. Easier to cover crap if it is all in the same pile.

Damn you are an ignorant person. Never opened a book huh.... Madison County schools have more accelerated students than Model has students.
I can tell you this. When reviewing resumes, the first mention of Model in the document and it goes in the trash. Yea I make 6 figures, and graduated from MCHS and I personally will never employee a person that graduated from Model. The other employees in the department feel the same.
That alone tells me what they are, and what they are about. And here in the job market we do not teach the test so there is no easy answers. We hire quality people from quality schools.
That should be considered discrimination. I didn't go to Model or MCHS (didn't grow up here) but discriminating against someone just because of what school they went to is ignorant, and it should be illegal.

Don't be jealous. If it weren't for Model grads paying taxes, the county school grads would be sitting in their trailer parks with no food stamps or welfare.

How many special needs students does Model serve? That might affect your bug scores! Have any FMD students? County schools take all kids and serve and meet the needs of all kids. It's not all about test scores. 19.1? Pretty darn good when you are testing 450 kids a year from ALL backgrounds!
