Maybe we could focus on cleaning up the REAL problem (prescription drug abuse) that is destroying Kentucky. Cannabis has never killed a person in the hisory of it's existence, and has been linked to helping treat cancerous tumors. Can you say the same for all the pills in this state? Hell no. When is Kentucky going to wake up like the rest of America is slowly doing?

I am sorry but you need to wake up. Every elected official in Kentucky could vote to legalize marijuana and it would still be against the law.

The marijuana laws are Federal laws. And no state law can supersede a Federal law. Take California, medical marijuana has been ok'ed out there for years. But the Fed's still roll into town about 4 times a year and charge and arrest everyone. And yes, every charge adds up until they go to jail. I lived there until I could not stand the gun laws and finally moved back home to the free part of the country.

Anyway, all the people pissing and moaning at the state is futile. The Fed's are the ones that are going to arrest the users even if the state says go ahead.

It is only illegal if you get caught, I think oral sex is illegal too. Keep your pot and your sex in your bedroom and you will be ok.

The DEA has primarily targeted dispensaries, they have hardly 'rolled through town arresting everyone'. Obama has even publicily stated they would no longer go after individuals/dispensaries that are in mmj compliance. REGARDLESS, you offer no argument as to why this would be a bad idea. You, like the rest of this state, are still caught up in the lies we were told by the government. "Marihuana influences Negroes to look at white people in the eye, step on white men’s shadows and look at a white woman twice.” Yeah, it must be bad, right?

Of course it is bad! It is terrible for the economy. We don't get the tax on it like we do from alcohol. It does not cul out the population like driving accidents from alcohol or cancer from cigarettes does. It does not make any money for big business either. Why in the heck would we want to legalize something someone can grow on their own without the government get involved.

Yeah, actually it is possible. There are FOUR commonwealths in the United States: Pennsylvania, Massachusettes, Virginia, and KENTUCKY. Commonwealth's allow for "civil divorces" from the parent governing body, as is the case in modern day Russia. That being said, if Kentucky seceded, along w/ Virgina, we would theoreticly then have a sea port to export goods abroad and could became self sustained. Although it is highly unlikely that this WOULD occur, it is, however, POSSIBLE. Now, I don't recall where I said they WOULD or SHOULD do it, just that they COULD do it. So, even though it was nice of you to ASS/U/ME that I was inferring that the state of Kentucky would or should secede, maybe I WILL pass it on along to you!!!! LOL!

You want to know why feds don't want to legalize it? Big drug companies can't make a big profit off of it.
But that's just my opinion.

Legalize marijuana and tax it get KY back into farming and get our country out of debt. People are going to continue to smoke it and grow it,so tax it and save us from our debts.

Sadly, I think you're right - even though it's not right.

I don't do drugs on any level, but this is where my complaint stands; marijuana is against Federal Law - which is fine, but it's not against CA (California) state law.

Call me crazy, but wasn't the US of A designed to where each state should govern itself?

Let's bring more truth into it...

The Federal Gov't has what they call "grant money", this money is used for MANY things, be it road repair, "going green", park/forest services - you name it.

Each state gets a piece of this 'Grant Pie', and by no exagerration, it's a big-ass piece of pie (you don't think all State projects are funded solely by state taxes, do you?). But the state only gets this money if they're not pissing the wrong people off in D.C., as sad as it is.

So, can a State Law (SL) override a Federal Law (FL)? Well, yes and no. A state law has no bearing anywhere except within the borders of it's own state, so a CA-SL can't trump the FL outside of it's own state, or anywhere on federal land (even if it's within the state of CA).

Medical Marijuana?

CA legalised it, and has every right to do so constitutionally - even though it's against FL. California is exercising it's own state's freedom and ability to govern itself by doing this.

Wouldn't that piss off the Feds?

You bet!:) So it comes back around to the Grant Money (it always comes down to money, sadly); more often than not, when a state goes against the Federal law, the Feds pretty much say something like "ok, fine, do this. But you won't be getting this grant anymore, and we'll restrict your *privelege* to transport X-cargo on federal roads (interstate highways - and yes, driving is a privelege, not a right).

Of course the feds could always "ok, whatever".

So you can see how it's easy for the Federal Gov't to strong arm states, by cutting certain fundings and/or limiting it's transportation of resources, which is why most states comply with the Fed Gov't (FG), even though the FG has NO RIGHT to impose a law on a state that is not being anti-American or unconstitutional.

Each state has the freedom, right and ability to govern itself.

It's just that most states have a bunch of bitches in office that care more about money than the rights and freedoms of it's people.

Obama's policy is to allow state's to choose how to deal with marijuana legalization, decriminalization and medicinal marijuana. The DEA no longer goes around the country busting people following state laws.
