rap in and of itself is a sometimes impressive, but often mediocre and consists of overdone re-hashings of things we've all heard before.

as an originally urban form of expression that is most often attributed to and expressive of the struggles of inner-city ghetto life, it is absolutely retarded to think that someone from a little podunk town in central ky would have the credentials or the experience to back up such expression.

richmond, ky is only a city in name, when compared to even the least of the major metro areas in this state and elsewhere. and aside from a few small neighborhoods and trailer parks, there is no real ghetto or "thug life" here to speak of or rap about, outside of the imaginations of a few silly kids that dress like BET-wanna-bes and wander a fraction what few streets we have.

this artist is just another wanna-be/never-will-be with dreams of fame, who would do better to focus on education and training and succeeding in the real world... not the made-up one in which they're some sort of real city artist speaking from real experiences.

Music is for everyone no matter the type or what type of city you are from. But the fact is I have not heard him do anything orginal to really say if he is any good or not. Write something youself and quite redoing other peoples stuff.

Matt is an INCREDIBLE writer and has some of the realest and most heartfelt music that anyone in this area has even attempted to release. Don't be so quick to judge. You won't hear, "Look at my necklace, look at my car, look at my hoes". You'll hear songs like Life So Crazy, "How many times do I gotta let you know I give a fuck?", songs like Let My Mind Go about his friend who died in a car accident, and Hip Hop music has NOTHING to do with being from some big city. It has to do with the expressive nature that comes from spoken word poetry. Do some research before you feign knowledge. You've all made yourselves look ignorant.

I don't come out to you guys shows cause I don't drink, and do the bar scene. I ahve heard some of his songs none of the ones you mentioned, I will have to look them up on Youtube or one of the other music sites and check them out. But all I have heard from him is a bunch of remixes from other artists. But I agree with you about where music comes from, don't matter the size of the city or where you come from, or what type of game you are rapping about. It is what you put into it.

perhaps that's what certain folks who have tried to adopt it and make it theirs would like to believe - those who live in the suburbs and in podunk usa. those who know its roots and take it seriously do not. nor does the industry, for the most part.

are you familiar with the term "street cred?" of course you have. how about "dirt-road cred?" "state road cred?" "trailer park lane cred?" no? there's a reason for that.

you've made yourself look not only ignorant and a bit defensive/combative, but also small-minded and tiresome as well.

M16 is a nice dude and great rapper. If your posting lame shit about him, then you know nothing about the music Richmond has to offer. Part of the culture is redoing a song, it's called mix tapes, this allows your self to be compared to a song people already know. Its actually how most rappers get their shot, it's so lames who can't see talent, are able to understand what the artist has to offer cause you won't give original works the shot.

I never said he was horrible, I just said that I would like to hear some of his orginal music and see what he could write and I did, He got Skillz, that is why I did not repost nothing for a day till this which was by the comment above directed at me. So yes, he has skillz, he can rap and write, the song about his friend really showed his talent.

@Don't be silly, you're an idiot. You are clearly someone with no grasp on what Hip Hop culture is or what its values are. Street Cred? Do you have to be a criminal to be a Hip Hop artist? Are you really that ignorant? Hip Hop's inception was during the last leg of the modern civil rights movement. This is music steeped in political and social messages. Curtis Blow's White Lines is probably just a song about cocaine to you too, idiot. And I'm not from a farmhouse, but if I were, it would still have no effect on my credibility as an artist since I'm not pretending to be 'gangsta'. Hip, was a word attributed to intelligent or being on the forefront of social consciousness, as where Hop was used to imply movement, action. Intelligence and awareness in action. Do some research, seriously. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

The only 3 beats that MSiix has ever been on that belonged to other people were the beat for Yelawolf's I Wish, the beat for Jay Z and Kanye's N*gg*s In Paris, and the beat for Tech N9NE's Slacker, all mixtape tracks, where using others beats is completely allowed, and his use of Tech's beat was the only time his lyrics were any way comparable to that of the original song, and it was in a manner to pay homage to the man who was MSiix and my greatest influence out of any and all musicians, again, do some research, before you make yourself look stupid. Skills are what make an MC credible in Hip Hop culture, not 'street cred' or sales, or the number of teeny boppers doing your stupid dance and dry humping one another, it's about your skill as a lyricist, and as a rapper, from writing, to vocal inflection, to your projection, to rhythm, flow, delivery, all THESE things are what make a talented MC. REAL Hip Hop is NOT on the radio, save for one or two small cases. People like Tyler the Creator and Waka Flocka are NOT Hip Hop and they are just thoughtless garbage, but sadly that is what sells in America. I want to be respected as a lyricist, not make a million dollars. Idiot.

Another among many treats for the easily impressed. Not even a musical McDouble, but a local mom-and-pop version of such. One of many that would do well not to quit their day job... if they actually have one.
