Looking for info in richmond jury duty. How long are you on for. How often did you have to actually report/sit?

I have never had jury duty (knock on wood), but my husband was called up a couple of years ago. You belong to the court system for 1 month. You report once a week on Monday, unless otherwise noted on local cable channel, and there is a phone number you can call on Sunday nights, just to be sure. If you are not chosen for the first case you still must report for other possible.cases until your time is up

Sorry, I forgot to add, that mondays are definite reporting, but you will have to report every day until you are dismissed from that case or until a jury is seated.

Why would you even bother with this stupidity? I have been called for jury duty 3 times in my life. Every time I got a note from a doctor telling the court that I was not "well" enough to play their foolish games.

Jury duty is for the dumbass with nothing to do. I am sorry but I'll be dammed if I leave my 26 dollar plus an hour job to listen to some bullshit I care nothing about.

Or you could do like a few other people I know have done, take the time off and go sit there knowing that the prosecutor is no doubt a liar or at best acting on information from a police officer, and we all know the educational factors required to be an officer negates that anything they say or do is either wrong or possibly illegal.

That means the supposed guilty is not guilty regardless of the evidence. Hear the case, vote the person innocent.

Its just that simple. As was explained to me years ago by a wise attorney. If you are sitting in the courtroom and someone walks in and begins beating someone. Sorry but that person still is NOT GUILTY of anything.

One poster is right. Ask your doctor for an excuse if you don't want to do it. Take that to the clerk and problem solved. No jury duty for you. This works so well I know 5 people that have been released. I know you should not have to, but the judicial system is a mess and better avoided.

Jury duty is not bad. It's actually kind of informative, sometimes funny, usually about guilty people explaining why or how they screwed up and it's also your duty. Besides that, if you work for a legitimate employer, they're required to pay you your full salary while on jury duty minus the $12.50(?) per day allottment. It's really kind of a paid day off, because once your called, unless it's a more serious trial, you spend maybe an hour or two on the jury and then you're released. All you do is take your court note to your employer about jury duty. They don't know how long you were there. Wish the'd call me for it again!
