Employees that have been dismissed by Nelson O'Donnell during his first term in office.

Kyle Cochran

Whitney Maupin

Tammy Hendrix

Roger Portwood

Chris Sizemore

Stacy Cummins

Tim Humble

Harold Hill

Amy Stogner

Doc Cochran

Slick Conner

John Settles

Robert Short

Lynn Short

Scotty Anderson

Danny McGuire

Evelyn Thomas

Derek Thomas

Nolan ( Peanut ) Winkler

Randy Worley

Andre Patterson

I realize that there are still a couple of months left in the year and this number could possibly grow but these are the people that have either been fired or quit and the majority of them were employees of former sheriff Dude Cochran.

Now I consider this a real honorable person, DONT YOU ?

As a tax payer in this county, I'm tired of my tax money being wasted. If these people had job performance issues, then that's one thing, but to fire them for who they voted for, that's another. Several of these folks have worked in the Sheriff's office for years. Now we the tax payers are having to pay for new staff to come in and be trained to fill these positions. It's just plain wrong!

What is the issue? Every time there is a management change, at any job anywhere, then the employees are changed to suit the new boss.

Look at the President. When a new one takes office, all the cabinet members and all the various positions of the former Presidents people are replaced. This is totally normal, and to be expected.

The problem seems to be that some people think they have a job, and they are going to retire doing it. That is not the case, and leads to ineffective employees.

When the Sheriff changed, of course the employees would change to suit the new Sheriff. And that's the way it is all across the country. The employee works because the boss allows it. Not because he was already doing the job. When the boss decides it is time for the employee to go, it's out the door. The employee has no say so in the decision, he or she is not the boss, but the employee.

Also, it is commonly misconstrued that an employer must have a reason to fire an employee. Nothing could be further from the truth. The boss can fire any employee under his control for any reason he wants to, and he can do it without giving a reason.

This is the normal and accepted way of doing things. There is no laws violated, and the fired employee can do nothing but complain.

Until tonight I was undecided as to whom I would vote for in the Sheriffs race. After reading this posting and understanding that Nelson can take care of his house. I now fully support him.

The ability to manage in tough situations is a needed thing, and dismissing this many people clearly shows he is and was moving to the betterment of the department.

I applaud him and his judgement.

i think any type of deputy, police officer and office for a state goverment should not be fired unless its thru proper channels, a hearing and a 10 out of 10 vote, not because 1 person thinks there a god, the people put him in office and they can vote him out, i think all officials should be replaced after a two term deal, look at the mayor not saying she is doing a bad job but if the president cant do it then a mayor shouldnt be able to, and that goes for any official

Will you three also be outstanding employees for Jerry Combs when he comes into office? Nelson should have acted like a grown man and accepted the fact that he lost.
