Even though thousands of dollars have been spent to build the sky walk across Lancaster, some students are still crossing wherever they please. It is very DANGEROUS! You are putting yourselves and drivers at risk by doing this. Several students have been killed and badly injured in years past after being hit by cars. Please use the sky walk that was built for you!

Did you expect lazy college students to walk all the way to the sky walk and up the steps? That's why EKU never built this on their own, they knew it would be a waste of $$.

Agreed but most the students walking in that area live in the apts or dorms thats why they getthe best parking smh. Woulda made more since fora tunnel less stairs and a more rape friendly structure. The big $$$ ppl dont care if a student breaks teh law and gets killed its always girls gettin hit bywomen drivers to begin with and we all know ky has 100 young women for every 92 young men. Killing the slow stupidones helps the population divide close.

No one likes stairs. They should have built it into an arch so that it seem less stressful to walk up and over. Also, handicapped people in wheel chairs could have access to it, and they are more suspect-able for being hit by traffic. I guess "curves" aren't in style these days and they just had to make it look like UK's walkway.

After parking in the main back of the parking lot who has time to go up the steps? It takes 30 minutes to park there and walk to class.
It's really dumb. I wish it had been a huge parking structure instead of that long ass parking lot.

The skywalk is dumb as hell. I know people that can't get a handi-cap placard but are barely able to walk and stairs are too hard on their knees. He had an injury that produced a blood clot in his knee and years later its not healed ... Why should my friend have to walk up the steps? He'd rather quit school

That piece of shit skywalk is way too much trouble and should be torn down, along with the dump it leads to.

Trust me when I tell you I told the Presidents office myself, and I know others, that all agree. It's something like 40 feet across the street. But it's 20 feet up one side of the stairs and 40 across and 20 more down. Only a dumbass would choose that route.

Whoever built that, or approved it must have got one large kickback.

Probably right up there with whoever screwed up Barnes Mill.

If I owned there I would already be suing someone.

But to answer your question. No, the students will not be using that mess.

I do not blame any student. Why climb those stairs and climb back down. Nope, that is not happening. Not with wire cutters being less than 10 dollars. Put up a fence, and we will add the holes.

To the drivers complaining. Remember the pedestrian always has the right of way. You want to continue to drive in Kentucky? Then do not run no one over.

There's an elevator for your lazy asses. You can't build anything these days that isn't handicapped accessible.

To the "eku student" you must not be from this area or you would know who got the apartments and skywalk built and yes, one large kickback indeed but that's how it works. Sue them for what? It was approved at every level.

well in my opinion they should stop building things on that campus and build some damn parking lots, eku has doubled everything in cost now and your lucky to find a parking spot, that damn skywalk was a true waste of money and the students are paying for it out of there financial aid and the ass clown president is getting paid more than the pres of this country, why in the hell would anyone want to spend that much money for this school when its cheaper to attend uk and get a better education

1) EKU didn't pay for it

2) you're not paying for it as a student

3) UK is more expensive

Try reading and punctuation.

NO charges filed if the driver doesn't "see" the pedestrian! Just saying. So I would be careful because there are a lot of fed up drivers in this town.

The problem is EKU has taken on about 50 percent more students than it can handle reasonably. The new housing complex on the corner of Barnes mill stands as proof that EKU is less an institute of learning and more of a money pit operation.

Do you think they would have spent money putting that building up if they did not think they could rent the small rooms for large money because students do not think.

As a Grad Student I can state I would never spend the amount they ask for that spot just for a room to sleep in. The builders did not go enough research before wasting so much money that will take 100 years to re-coup.

The walkway is but another mistake made by EKU in allowing the builders to put that on EKU property. It is nothing but a sign post for EKU. It is not very useful as in the effort it adds to just crossing the street. A well lit tunnel would have cost less, and actually worked.

You young kids with your jaywalking, eye pads, and twerking dance!!! Disrepectful is what it is! In my day we walked 14 miles one way to a crosswalk then 14 miles back just to buy a soda pop! Have some shame and cover your ankles!!!!!
