I love how disagreement with liberals and the desire to not support them somehow becomes re-enforcing a negative stereotype. Just what are we re-enforcing? Sane fiscal policy? Truth in government? 2nd amendment freedoms? If people don't like me for supporting those issues then I am happy about that.

Hell I like ya, I like ya a lot. But this don't mean we will be taking warm showers in the wee hours of the morning.

But I likes how ya think.

So EKU has been a blight on the area since 1906? Come on? Where would Richmond be otherwise? Please make yourself aware of the larger picture in life and the world.

It would be a MAJOR concern to those other than EKU employees. Who shops at the local stores? Eats at the local restaurants? Sends their children to the local schools? Students, faculty and staff is who. Do you really want to see the contributions to local schools plummet? Who contributes to that tax base?

It is called the multiplier effect. Why do you think that so many places in the country do not want their military bases shut down. Same impact if EKU were to go away.

How would the local barber stay in business? How would any local restaurant stay in business? How could Richmond support a Kroger, a Meijer, an Olive Garden, a Red Lobster... Do I need to continue.

Take away EKU and 19,000 people, yes 19,000 people, contributing to the local economy disappear. That is out of a total of 30,000 people for Richmond. Over fifty percent.

I take it you prefer living in the 19th century and having limited opportunities and options.

Yea, close it and take us back to 1900. It's where we want to be.
When only white men had the vote, influenza killed people by the thousands, horses and buggies, etc. Sure, sure...good times.

That is an excellent idea. Everyone go through the ceremony and when she starts to speak, everybody just get up and walk out!!!

That is really a most excellent idea.

My recommendation is to NOT WALK OUT. I suggest just standing up and turning your back to the speaker. Perhaps a Public Snubbing of Her Highness MOOCHELLE might ruffle her feathers a bit. Recently saw an email showing pix of some Obummer Cartoons on billboards (I believe in Texas) that had the administration flunkies up in arms. The cartoons show the HUGE ears on Obummer and basically poke fun about how stupid and arrogant he is. Maybe Her Highness, MOOCHELLE might like seeing a bunch of spoof/cartoons of her "beloved" hubby along the route from the Lex Airport all the way to EKU campus.

Have you heard that Michelle Obama is speaking at this years commencement. All this time in school, studying hard, and now, when it is our time to walk across that stage, they do this.

I am going to do as the others and turn my cap and gown in to the President and tell him to mail my diploma.

My only question is what idiot booked a Democrat for an Eastern Kentucky School?
I'm sure you're graduating...remember this is for a COLLEGE DEGREE not your pathetic ass GED. LMFAO. When you are in college and can complain then please do...otherwise shut your mouth!

Hey stupid, the poster is not graduating you fool. Can you not even read before running your white trash mouth.

I applaud the efforts these students are making to avert having to deal with the crap EKU has done to them.

I agree 100 percent. The students should abstain from this media ploy and go on with their lives knowing that EKU and it's admin staff have screwed you over but good.

I even agree with the warn others students so the can go to schools that appreciate their monies.

You all should be honored... It is our First Lady!!!! But Ill be the first one say it, only if they would of got that "white one" Laura Bush, that's fine!! But Michelle Obama, our current First Lady, who happens to be black, undercover racist students can't take it!!! Be respectful and just be happy that she is even taking time to come here cause I'm pretty sure the students at UK or UofL would appreciate it a lot more! And if you don't want to go please leave your tickets for others because I know I would love to hear her speak!

Hey dumb ass, the initial poster said this: "I am going to do as the others and turn my cap and gown in to the President and tell him to mail my diploma.".

The ignorance of Richmond.

I hear that Richmond City is looking into housing this event for those kids.

An off campus event where common sense prevails.

I am so extremely sorry to read the ugly comments about Michelle Obama's invitation to speak at EKU commencement. I do not care at all what your politics are - she IS the present First Lady of the United States of America (having become that because of her husband being duly elected by the people of this country), she is a wonderfully talented lady and great speaker, she has fought vigorously for causes for the Veterans of this nation, and EKU has been very active in helping veterans with their education (this is I believe the reason why she is speaking at EKU). So please do not use your own personal political views to downgrade the veterans, EKU,or the President and First Lady of the USA. This kind of attitude only helps to further the idea that Richmond and Kentucky are full of uneducated people who do not know how to handle themselves in a respectable way. If you are a student that is about to graduate and you choose to stay home, that is your right, but I have always believed that we should give a certain amount of respect to our president (even when the president was not the one that I voted for) and I certainly think we can be more respectful of his wife. So now please try to ACT like a graduate.

I can't wait went ahead and paid a graduating student to make sure I get one of her tickets. Mrs. Obama has so much style and grace that I am sure it will be an excellent speech to hear. A milestone for Richmond and EKU. Congrats grads you earned it and now being honored by the first lady. Wtg.

Some people really do not deserve a college degree - if they have not yet learned how to be respectful. So please just stay home and please let EKU know that you do not even want to accept your diploma in person or by mail. You do not deserve one.
