For those questioning this, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Faith is "supposed" to be in my son's class this year, but can't because she is in the hospital. They were classmates last year as well. Why would this be in the news? If your child was gravely ill in the hospital, would you be calling the news people about it? I don't think so. A parents priority is to take care of your child, not create a media frenzy from it!

There is a recall for lettuce shipped out from CA contaminated with E Coli. I really hope it is not the local McD's that made her sick.

KY is one of the 19 states with the recalled lettuce. If a family member of friend of the little girl reads this, let her parents know!

If some little girl got e coli from mcdonalds or any in this town the media would be having a field day with it trying to scare everyone to death like they always do. You will never convince me of this until it gets crammed down our throat by th register and the lexington tv stations. I just hope others aren't stupid enough to give your fairy tale money.
It's true, I was in the ER when she was brought in.

Let me assure you as her parent that this is in no way a joke. She did contract ecoli and developed what is called h.u.s. it is web ecoli in its advance stages begins to attack the rest of the body. It caused kidney failure and then spread into her blood stream and affected her pancrieus and brain. We have spent 4 weeks this far in the icu fighting this illness. There is no way to track it definitely however it is known that it comes from beef. The only beef she had eaten was from McDonald's and the health department is investigating but again that is not a guarantee that she contracted it from there. I am not going to down McDonald's as this can happen anywhere. There is no need to argue over media and causes. People take things and run with them. We may never pin point the place she contracted it but know this. My child is very sick and at one point was close to death. So please do not accuse anyone of scamming. We didn't ask anyone for anything churches are doing benefits for us because they want to. All I ask for is prayer for her recovery. And be aware this is common as we are one of 5 cases in the unit now. And for the record Witt did contact us but while the health department looks into it they can't report until the report is complete. Just be aware we do not lay blame on McDonald's we jut want our child well and home again. The most appreciated thing is prayer not money. And for those who have helped that is appreciated. so please don't argue or bicker over foolish things the important thing is the life and wellness of this child.

I am praying for her and her family daily, that she gains the strength to fight this horrible illness.

Wouldn't something like that be in the news? There is no mention of it on the Richmond Register's website that I could find.
5 years ago my brother became very ill with flu like symptoms. At UK hospital he was diagnosed with HUS and TTP. They asked if he had eaten anything recently that could have made him sick. He replied, "Probably that damn Hardee's thick burger. He soon went into an almost coma like state. They began a plasma transfusion, but his kidneys had already shut down and he died on day 2 from cardiac arrest. The autopsy took nearly a month but did show Ecoli. I thought for sure someone, health dept or someone would do an investigation, but nothing. His death never made the news and it was very probable that it came from a fast food restaurant here in Richmond. This does happen more than you think!

If my kid got sick and was in critical condition from contracting E-Coli from McDonald's or any other restaurant I would go as fast as I could to the news media. I would want to make sure that a full investigation was conducted to find the source of the contamination. Of course I would be at my child's side but I would want the public to be aware so that no one else got sick.
so over it
