Ajarn Surachai Sirisute (Thai: สุ&#36 19;ชั& #3618; ศิ&#36 19;ิส& #3641;ตร ์, born October 16, 1948), commonly known as Chai Sirisute, is a martial arts Instructor who is the founder and President of the Thai Boxing Association of the USA and responsible for introducing Muay Thai to the United States. Born in Bangkok Thailand, Sirisute was indoctrinated to Muay Thai at the age of 4, kicking his father's heavy bag for 15 minutes a day.He formally studied both Muay Thai as well as karate beginning at the age of six.[1] He earned his black belt in Shorin-ryu at the age of 12, an age at which he also started to fight in the ring in Muay Thai.[1] Sirisute fought over 72 fights in Muay Thai and retired as a fighter in 1968, leaving Thailand to teach in America.[1]
Upon arriving in the US, Sirisute managed to befriend and train a notorious motorcycle gang called the Hells Angels, having no idea who they were until the FBI explained it to him. Whereupon, Sirisute volunteered to train the FBI agents.
During the 1970s and early 1980s Sirisute taught at several Southern California colleges: Chaffey College, Claremont Men's College and Cal State San Bernardino and out of his home. His early students included Jim Vanover, Bryan Dobler, Mike Goldbach, Reggie Jackson, Glen Hernandez, Don Boyd, and the vice president Chai's Thai Boxing Association, Tony Gneck whom he brought to Thailand in 1982 as the first American team to compete in the Muay Thai World Championships.[1][2]
In 1978, trained another Martial Arts teacher named Dan Inosanto.[1][3] Inosanto trained as a student in Chai's backyard and eventually introduced Sirisute to his Jeet Kune Do teaching seminars, which greatly helped Sirisute extend awareness of Muay Thai in the U.S.A. as well as internationally.[1][4] In 1983 Inosanto introduced Sirisute to Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys who soon incorporated Muay Thai into their pre-season conditioning with Sirisute as their instructor until the time of Landry's departure in 1990.[5]
Sirisute currently runs a Muay Thai camp in Oregon each year with more than 200 students from around the world attending. He founded the Thai Boxing Association of the USA in 1968 and has expanded it to more than 16 countries around the world. He maintains a busy seminar schedule travelling around the world teaching Muay Thai today.:0

I showed Ajarn Diaz this and he said for whoever is running there mouth to come see him. So many people hattin on Raymond for no reason. Raymond has trained many years to get where he is and is naturally a gifted teacher. Whoever said on here they have beaten Raymond is a lie, cause he has never lost a fight. Again!!!! I challenge any school to come to Master Diaz gym and put your talk were mouth is. I don't care were u train, it's not as good as Raymond. And to whoever put the post about Ajarn title, needs to look at Raymond's back ground. Ajarn Diaz has been teaching Muay Thai since he was 11 years old. He also train the police and prison guards how to defend themselves with Muay Thai, so everyone else shut up. Ajarn Diaz is the only Ajarn in state and has many documents to back it up!

Im beginning to think you are actually someone who hates Raymond Diaz and wants to see him hurt. The only other possible explanation is that you are F N RETARDED. No one who has know Raymond Diaz for any amount of time would believe this. The only people teaching Muay Thai in the state of Kentucky 20 years ago when he was 11 was Scott Elliott and Eric Haycraft out of Louiville, KY. And I believe Haycraft was just fighting then.

Does the capitalization imply yelling?? Maybe you should challenge some of the Baddog MMA guys that have been beating your boy Bennett all over the ring. Show them how a true master of nonsense takes a beating and challenge one of them.

I'm wondering if Raymond Diaz is actually Raymond Diaz on these posts. I don't think he'd say he was a Muay Thai master teaching since age 11. He's only mentioned he's a boxer to me, never kicking, which I think is in Muay Thai (kickboxing). If it is Raymond, he's pissed off and looking for a fight! Anywhere, Anytime, he's pissed!! But he's not a Muay Thai master.

You pay to take classes, but then u get treated like shit by Scott Elliot. If u aint "in" his click then u get treated like a pee-on. He think he better than evry1. The only people he even cares about is his girl-who be making him money going pro and his other girl on da side. The whole place is like a soap opera, I heard that from more than one person. So if u wanna go, I suggest not getting 2 personally involved wit them people, and if u wanting to make it as a fighter, good luck...cuz they dont care bout u.

Afs is a good school, elite is a good school and underground dose have good fighter and coaches... Kevin miller is a good stand-up coach Raymond dose have some knowledge in mma and will be featured in the cadge soon.. And Bennett has had a bad run because he is lazy and dose not consistently train as hard as he should... Hopefully he will be back on the winning side of his pro carrier soon... And to the haters Brandon Stewart has a positive record of 6-2 out of underground with an Ammy title and Bennett held 2 Ammy titles in 2diffrent weight classes.. So they do have fighters at underground that can win!

Tru...i guess it depends on what type of atmosphere you wanna train in tho. I just heard some neg things bout afs from my boy who trained there last yr, but then again i heard some negative things bout a couple here in lex too...so dont know. i used to live in nashville and we had a few good gyms that were legit, but when i moved up to lex alls i heard were ppl talkin shit bout all these gyms...and i just dont get it. i guess no one needs to knock any of 'em till u try 'em first...cant always go by rumors

Diaz doesn't have the title of Ajarn and hasn't spoken an ill word about AFS in the least . As far as drama is concern, show me one gym of any type that doesn't have it but the one poster sounds more jealous than anything. I've had the opportunity to know almost all the owners and fighters at the gyms from Berea to Evansville , AFS trains and cares about their people more than most out there . If you want any trainer or gym to take you serious you have to put in the time and effort , don't expect it to be handed to you . Then get upset when you don't skyrocket to the UFC because you train one hour a week and drink four days the rest .
