Captain Obvious Here.

I can't wait to try the two new pizza restaurant entries here in Richmond.

Partner's Pizza. Here is the website. wwww.partnerspizza.com
Large specialty pizza $18.50 plus tax, plus delivery fee, plus tip. I'll wait until I try a slice to make any predictions. I am hoping that it is great pizza.

East of Chicago Pizza. Nothing on the internet. No apparent website yet. Again, I will wait to make predictions.

What happened to "Mushrooms" that was allegedly going to open up behind Wok N Go?

There is only one pizza place in Richmond worth your time. Apollo Pizza. Their quality, service, and pricing puts all others to shame.

There's an East of Chicago in Myrtle Beach. My kids love it there. It's buffet, but kids are able to make their own pizza. Where's it suppose to be at in Richmond? I seen the location for the partners pizza out on new bypass.

East of Chicago in Myrtle Beach is closed. It looks like the one in Richmond is going to be carry out and delivery only. I don't think they have a buffet.

A new pizza place is not very smart business. Most people ear papa johns, pizza hut, or dominoes for delivery. Snappy tomato is ok. Poor people will get little Cesars. Buffer pizza is at cicis, even though it's crap tasting. Apallos is a place that is trying to profit from a dead mans legacy. Family's don't eat there, but they may get enough drunks frat boys to barely pay the bills. Good luck on the new venture partners, but with bad location and a pizza thats twice as much as the national brands (assuming capt obvious is right) looks like a bad business plan.
you are stupid. now that i think of it, you are probably into anal too

It's "obvious" you ain't tried or liked Gillums; the best in town, but you've probably got a problem with the owner, don't you? He may or may not make them, but they're still the best round here. This is Jimmy and I approve this message.

No, I am very fond of Gillums. I like their pizza and fried mushrooms. They are my favorite pizza in Richmond. That little foray into the Gillum's II was a very bad idea, but at least the mall location is still in business.

Thanks for approving the message Jimmy.

I believe that the East of Chicago Pizza is a franchise from Northern Ohio. Prices are competitive. I don't mind paying a little more for a better quality product if it brings a perceived value.

I have eaten at one before, it was good and I am hopeful that everything will transfer down here as far as taste, customer service and price.

Here is the website. http://www.eastofchicago.com/menu.html

Let's all hope for a success.

I would predict one nail in the coffin at Apollo's pizza. It will remain open but on a slippery slope.

Tried Gillums, didn't like it. Pretty much the same as every other bar n grill pizza, in my opinion.

Looking forward to trying East of Chicago. I love Chicago-style pizza, be looking forward to trying theirs.

I haven't tried Partners yet. I'll have to give them a shot, but they're looking a bit out of what I'm willing to pay for a pizza.

Isn't there a East of Chicago pizzeria at Hamburg in Lexington? If that's the same, then no thanks. I wasn't impressed.

The garlic bread sticks are good. I like the pizza sub, but they priced themselves out of the market. I didn't care for the last pizza I had there.

However, Captain Obvious had many happy memories of the original place.

Comparison:
Gillum:
Crust Sizes
9" – 7.59 12"– 9.59 16" – 13.59
Add Your Favorite Topping
9" – 50 cents per topping
12"- 1.00 per topping
16"- 2.00 per topping

Apollo:
10 Inch – 6.99 + 1.00 per topping
14 Inch – 9.99 + 1.50 per topping (Original or Thin Crust)
20 Inch Wagon Wheel – 17.99 + 2.75 per topping

So say you are feeding a party of 3 people. You want a pepperoni pizza. The 12" from Gillum will be too small, so you go to the 16". Total cost will be $16.53 (including tax). At apollo you could get the 14" for $12.18.
This is not even considering the Carry out special at Apollo which is 14 Inch – One Topping - 8.99 Three Topping – 11.99.

I make the worst pizza in the history of pizza, and (just like subway) I make sooooi much money because I say "fresh ingredients". Like others have said, it's almost stupid to start a pizza in richmond.

Elvira's makes a very solid pie; the best in Richmond for my money. Certainly the closest thing to pizza. Make the short trip to Papaleno's if Elvira's doesn't float your boat. Although, I think Papaleno's has seen much better days.

Tried East of Chicago last week, not impressed at all. It tastes just like Pizza Hut but more expensive. There was a TON of sauce on their pizza.
