Tornado warning? Yes we will have school
Basketball tournament? No school

I hope Central gets beat by so many points it makes the national news. That in 10 years when a team plays bad they will say wow this team is pulling a madison central.

I could care less about a ball game. But I do work full time and it is an inconvience to have to make arrangements for my kids because of NO school. I really cant afford to miss work so let me say Thanks again MADISON COUNTY SCHOOLS for cancelling! Also I have been told we do Not have to make this day up. Thats the only good thing about it!!!!

I agree with you. It's a crazy reason to call off school. I work as well and it's hard to make arrangements. We don't call off or delay for a tornado warning but can call off for a basketball game. Where are your priorities at Madison county.

Seems like sports are more important than education. It's all about the almighty dollar.

If they hadn't called off school than ya'll would be complaining about that instead. People aren't happy unless they have something to cry about. When I was at Central we made it to the sweet 16 and they let us out of school that day and not one person complained about it. This is an exciting time for these kids. I say let them enjoy it!

Maybe the school district should focus more on education and less on sports. Homeschooling sounds better and better if the other options is a school district that buts basketball over academics.

Let them enjoy it. I'm sure that they were worried that the absentee rate would be too high for the day and they would be better off just to call school off in advance.

Maybe you would have been better off home-schooled then you could spell. I think that should have read puts not buts. All of the counties that have teams playing in the Sweet 16 have cancelled classes. Get your facts straight before making accusations. GO INDIANS!!!!!!

I personally could care less either way but the bottom line of your post is you want someone else to take care of your kids. You had them, you find care for them, that is your job. School is more than just books and academic learning, it is also about this type of sport and social event.

There was no way for the board or the superintendent to please everyone.

Grow up and get a life and most of all raise your own children instead of looking to the school system to provide child care.

When the majority of students are not in sports and there are "exceptions" made to cater to those students..well, you end up with parents unwilling to "participate" in school "politics". The system as a whole has placed too much attention on sports and bare minimum on education. The parents are fed up with it. Are there more students in sports than not? All treated fair and equal? Every word they claim...is just that, words. Parents have seen no action behind them for years, never gonna change.

Isn't weird when school is cancelled for snow that no one says anything about not being able to provide childcare for their kid? I am so proud that our student athletes will have so much support from their fellow students at least. Most of the students at Central bought tickets today.

Whether they participate or not you can bet the stands would have been full. Even many of those that did not go would not have attended school if it had been in sesion.

By the way it is clearly evident that the powers that be could care less whether you as a parent participate in anything, decision or otherwise. They make decisions with little regard for parents and that is very wise since they are impossible to please.

I can assure you that cancelling is supported by MANY and MANY feel the other way. It doesn't matter what you want you will get what they give you.
