I have been on prescribed amphetamines for 16 years for ADHD. Needless to say I am an older adult. I went to have my prescription filled this month only to find my prescription was either lost or stolen. I asked the doctor to run a Kasper to see if someone else had filled it. I still don't know, but was told in either case the doctor would not write me a new one. I would like to know what I may experience for the next month. I have never had withdrawals and I can tell you for the last few days I have not moved. I have to be able to function because I have kids to take care of. Does anyone have any helpful advice that will make things easier? And what do withdrawals cause or do?

LAIR!!!!!

first off, the doctor calls it in. only in rare cases will you ever get a paper prescription, and since you been on it for 16 years, please tell your lies elsewhere!!!!

As for the drugs themselves, those can only be picked up by the person with a photo ID or someone who they have on thier list, again with a photo ID.

you are nothing more then a druggie trying to find a hook up.

you want advice druggie.... GO KILL YOURSELF!

Actually, they cannot be called in as they're on the green list. My daughter is on them and we get a paper prescription and sometimes one extra so that we don't have to drive to Lex to pick another up. Not everyone one amphetamine salts/adderall is a druggie.

I would call a pharmacist and tell them the dosage that you were on and ask what to expect. If you start feeling too bad, go to the ER.

Some prescriptions for ADHD can only be written on a paper to take to the pharmacy, then a social security number to the patient is requested. They will not call in Adderall, I know my son takes it. They can't fax or call that particular medication in. And my son is not a druggy! As for the original question, yes you will be irratible, and probably off task. I can't imagine a good patient and Dr. relationship your doctor wouldn't trust you have lost it. So I will pray for the best, for you, because my son takes it to focus. Without it, he doesn't focus as well. Please don't kill yourself, that is ridiculous, and very sorry of a person to tell you. I know myself, that every three months, my son has to be seen for it, then every month I have to pick up the prescription tab. I wish you the best.

Also I don't know what amphetamines are, maybe not like Adderall, but that might be something else because I don't know if it is the same.

Withdrawals from any amphetamine, whether it be Adderall, Concerta, Ritalin, etc., will be a lot like an alcohol hangover for the first couple of days. Your appetite will probably decrease and you'll need to be sure to drink plenty of WATER. Vitamin B complex and standard NSAID pain relievers are the best things to take to relieve some of the head and stomachache related symptoms.
Following that, you may have symptoms of depression and/or anxiety until you begin your amphetamine regiment again. Of course this will be accompanied by an increasing difficulty to concentrate. Get plenty of sunlight to keep your Vitamin D levels up, seeing as how Vitamin D greatly influences your mood. You may also want to take a daily multivitamin. Research and try different vitamins/supplements, they were life savers when I intentionally stopped taking my psychiatric medications.
