I went there for the first time last night and the employees were rude as hell! I enjoyed the bowling but is this pretty much typical? Or did I just have a bad experience?

When it first opened it was nice but they have let the place go downhill. Too bad we don't have other bowling options locally. Last time I was there the service was poor and the condition of the lanes was terrible. Seems like its all or none with the bumpers, If one in your party uses bumpers everyone has to use them.

Agree. Waited for 20 minutes to get them to service our lane Saturday. Bumpers stayed up the entire game.

Yeah I'm glad I'm not crazy. Sometimes I think I am just being too critical of a place but they were pretty rude. I think they take advantage of the fact they are the only place in town. I'll be going to Lexington from now on lol.

Yes Galaxy stinks, better to take the trip to Lexington and I'm a bit too heterosexual to enjoy the music they play out there. I think you can lower the bumpers yourself if you'd like, seems I've seen people do it. They just lift up and slide down or something like that.

Part of the appeal is that I could take my son bowling and he could have the bumpers up, I could have the bumpers down. It's not a lot of fun for a 9 year old to keep throwing gutter balls, and it's equally not as fun for me to bounce off the bumpers when I throw the ball. That you could program the bumpers was a great touch. So now that it's a problem, we'll find something else to do. (Not crying about it either...)

Bartenders are pure thiefs! Will not give your money back, will keep it all as a tip and will pretend they cant hear your!! They think everyone is too stupid or drunk to know the difference, I don't go there anymore, neither do my friends they say they got tired of it also. Getting rich! 20 dollars for one little drink is plain wrong!!!

That is not true.

The comment about the employees being rude and the bartenders keeping your money is ridiculous. I know most of the employees and they are as sweet as they can be. As far as the bartenders go, well they are the best and you won't find any better! These guys and gals work their asses off to try to make you people happy. Show some respect!

Yeah it's a dump. Screw the rude employees (I've not been back in awhile) and I wouldn't dare drink there.

Brandy do you work there or are you just a Galaxy Bowling groupie? I bet you're there right now enjoying all their BS.

It's fine. Everyone's gonna have their opinions, and on any given day or night, events and chance might conspire to make it a bad visit. But the same is true for any other place... And those who are the hypercritical sorts will surely find fault in anything and anyone. The best bet for anyone who hasn't formed an opinion is to go themselves and see how it goes, and only then decide if the like it or not. Listening to random, unaccountable testimony from people with who-knows-what motives and/or dispositions would be a very poor and foolish way to make up one's mind about a place.

I have no motives. I didn't plan on having a bad experience. I simply wrote about the experience my son and I had. It used to be a fun place to bowl.
The employees acted like it was a terrible inconvenience to service the lane they had chosen for us. And they weren't about to move us. People who arrived after us were given a working lane. Having to wait for 20 minutes to
get someone to work on the lane is poor customer service no matter how you look at it.

Every time I've been there we've been treated pretty rudely! It's almost like it kills them to help you or answer any questions.

I've had nothing but good times there, and never a bit of trouble from the staff, at Galaxy Bowl and/or Champions. Surely it may have gone differently for others.

But in such circumstances, was it truly the staff acting negligently or maliciously without cause?

Could it possibly be that the treatment received by those whose negative experience is chronicled here was somehow the result of or reaction to some behavior or element of the patron's personage or behavior as yet unrevealed here? Either by chance or by latent instinct, is it possible that the staff members' rough handling of some customers served as counterbalance to observed or detected douchebaggery on the part of the miffed customers themselves?

Could those employees somehow have perceived the same sort of traits and character flaws in those customers that would lean toward rants and pouting and the interwebs, as opposed to constructively seeking satisfaction via addressing the management or owners directly? I know I have trouble resisting giving such people hell... obviously.

:-P

Get the eff over it! Ride Your Royal Entitledness up to Lex and see if you fare better, or if it's just you.

I've worked in the customer service/service industries like this, and can tell you, from the lowly worker's perspective: Sometimes you have an off day. Sometimes, after being swamped with school work, coming to work and being menaced by masses of demanding but barely intelligible, hard-to-please hilljack assholes, their snotgoblins, AND their self-styled "urban" counterparts - spoiled little Princes and Princesses of Podunk USA - and all for a paycheck that amounts to peanuts... On those days, sadly, yes, you wind up doing the bare minimum it takes to get through a shift and get home. Those that expect Red Carpet treatment and near-psychic anticipation of their every want and need will likely meet with harsh disappointment on such a day.

Such is life. Don't be a little bitch about it.

I'm sorry is this offending to you?!

Of the 5 times I've been there I have even went out if my way to be friendly just to see if I could get a friendly response back and of course, got treated rudely anyway. So FYI, I'm speaking from the opinion that if they aren't nice 5 out of 5 visits then they need some customer service training regardless of what their wages are!
