There is a very honest and cheap mechanic on 25, just inside Berea. He replaced my alternator, and only charged me $45 labor. I don't remember his name or the name of the place, but it's just past Advance...on the same side of the road. If you buy the parts, he will put them on. May save some money that way. Good luck!!

My son-in-law replaced my starter today, and will be doing my plugs, wires, air and fuel filters this Sunday. He is a certified mechanic and very cheap, too.

Well, took him 3 hours to replace it, because a bolt on the back was striped. It's a van, also. Regardless, he told me the price upfront, and stuck to it when it took much longer.

But now that my son-in-law does all my repairs, I pay him a little extra because he is family.

Majors and Minors (behind the Saratoga on E Main) has always been real fair and honest with me, good mechanic too.

I hate to agree with Gene, because I want Rick at 'Majors and Minors' all to myself.
But truly, he is such an honest, competent, experienced mechanic that he deserves my wholehearted recommendation.

That's a huge mistake. Evans charges more for labor than any other place in Richmond. They also like to get over on women. Took my car there one to have some problems diagnosed and they told me I had coolant leaking into my oil and said it would cost 500 dollars to fix. They were hoping I'd say yes and have it fixed right then and there, but I took it somewhere else. Turns out nothing was leaking into my oil at all, I just had a coolant leak and needed a hose changed. A friend of mine also went there once for an oil change and they didn't put the filter on right and caused his motor to blow. I recommend you find a new mechanic FOR REAL, or keep overpaying and hope they don't screw you over I guess!

I don't know what you are talking about. There have been a few times where they didn't even charge labor. I guess it depends on the person / attitude of the person. I have gone out in the bay and chatted with the guys as they worked. Hell it turns out I know one of their cousins that run a garage in Stanton. Good people.

Well, to each their own I suppose. I just don't know how my attitude could've affected their decision to blatantly lie to me and say that coolant was leaking into my oil. I was completely nice to them, and even accepted their lie, but still chose to go get a second opinion. If anything, the only thing I presented myself as, was a naive woman who knew absolutely nothing about cars...and I'm pretty sure they picked up on that.

So, in other words, it's just one big happy family and now you feel like a family member, "Just remember my friend, The closer the kin the deeper in" LMMFAO AT YOU!!!!

I have to say living away and dealing with so many shop through out my life, my kids lives, etc. I found this great shop on keeneland dr. off exit 90 Accel Auto Care. They could have robbed me ( yes I'm a female ) but they are totally honest with me ! Trust me I check around and price it all, warranties and quality of product ( bottom line ) When i need things done to my car, I wont no drama ! My bet over all is Accel they have been up front and fair. I'm tired of these well i think it might be this or that and the charges keep climbing ( not to mention ) how others have kept my only ride for days if not weeks...geeez...well good luck and thats my thought for the day !!
