The Night of the Generals
April 2007 / http://tinyurl.com/yllqfpr
The six retired generals who stepped forward last spring to publicly attack Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's handling of the Iraq war had to overcome a culture of reticence based on civilian control of the military. But while each man acted separately, all shared one experience: a growing outrage over the administration's incompetence, leading some of the nation's finest soldiers to risk their reputations and cross a time-honored line.
Lieutenant General Greg Newbold, former director of operations on the Joint Chiefs of Staff; retired from the Marines with three stars in 2002.
Major General Paul Eaton, West Point graduate; oversaw the creation of the new Iraqi Army until 2004. Retired with two stars in 2006
Major General John Batiste, former commander of the First Infantry Division; retired with two stars in November 2005.
Major General John Riggs, Vietnam veteran; headed army's Objective Force Task Force. Retired in April 2004 after losing one of his three stars
Major General Charles Swannack Jr., West Point graduate; commanded the 82nd Airborne in Iraq until 2004, making 153 jumps himself. Retired with two stars in 2004.
Lieutenant General Paul Van Riper, Vietnam veteran; retired as a Marine three-star in 1997. Served as a consultant to Rumsfeld's Pentagon

An Incomplete Investigation
Why did the 9/11 Commission ignore "Able Danger"?
November 17, 2005 / by FBI Director LOUIS FREEH / http://tinyurl.com/78xy9
Yet this is also a good time for the country to make some assessments of the 9/11 Commission itself. Recent revelations from the military intelligence operation code-named "Able Danger" have cast light on a missed opportunity that could have potentially prevented 9/11. Specifically, Able Danger concluded in February 2000 that military experts had identified Mohamed Atta by name (and maybe photograph) as an al Qaeda agent operating in the U.S. Subsequently, military officers assigned to Able Danger were prevented from sharing this critical information with FBI agents, even though appointments had been made to do so. Why?
There are other questions that need answers. Was Able Danger intelligence provided to the 9/11 Commission prior to the finalization of its report, and, if so, why was it not explored? In sum, what did the 9/11 commissioners and their staff know about Able Danger and when did they know it?
The Able Danger intelligence, if confirmed, is undoubtedly the most relevant fact of the entire post-9/11 inquiry. Even the most junior investigator would immediately know that the name and photo ID of Atta in 2000 is precisely the kind of tactical intelligence the FBI has many times employed to prevent attacks and arrest terrorists. Yet the 9/11 Commission inexplicably concluded that it "was not historically significant." This astounding conclusion--in combination with the failure to investigate Able Danger and incorporate it into its findings--raises serious challenges to the commission's credibility and, if the facts prove out, might just render the commission historically insignificant itself. http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/...

When is the last time you heard someone say I am an Italian American, I am a Irish American, etc.?
Where is it on applications, under race section, Italian American, Irish Americans, German Americans, Polish Americans, etc.?
Are you actually this dumb or just escaping the truth of the matter.
Wake up, look around and actually notice what is going on in this country...thats all I asked, just wake up.
What a shame, when someone denigrates someone else for the truth because they don't want to face it.

Al,you know I have great respect for you.We just differ on our political views.I always preached equality for all.The person ask why Blacks want to use the term African American,he/she singled out one ethnic group. I assume everyone likes to celebrate their heritage
thus rendering his/her statement very biased.
As far as communisim...I will stand by my vision of American, and state unequivocally...until you or anyone else on this forum or in the entire United States can present absolute proof that this Nation is under assault by communist or any other ideology, I will refuse to believe such.
No pundit or talking head or any person with a blog or radio/tv show
giving opinions without fact can convince me other wise.
I simply when not accept conjecture of this nature.
I am not blind nor indoctrinated...I am a American! I use what brain cells I have left to form reasonable, practical, conclusio ns!So believe me when I say...if I thought for one moment that this Country was under any form of tyranny or our sovereignty was in danger I'd be the first to defend her!

Unfortunately, as she is appointed, not elected, I can't make a joke about "these are the people we elect?" I could say, "these are the people appointed by the people we elect?"
Alan Greenspan vs. Naomi Klein on the Iraq War, Bush’s Tax Cuts, Economic Populism, Crony Capitalism and More

In a Democracy Now! exclusive debate, former federal reserve chairman Alan Greenspan and journalist Naomi Klein square off on the Iraq war, oil, President Bush tax cuts, social security, economic populism in Latin America, corruption and crony capitalism. Greenspan headed the central bank in the United States for almost two decades. He has written a new 500-page memoir titled,“The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World.” At one point in the debate, Klein asks Greenspan, " The policies that you pursued—deregulation, privatization, free trade—have contributed to this extraordinary division of income that is really the fuel for this economic populism that you’re now denouncing. Aren’t you the one that has caused this crisis of faith in capitalism?"

General Speaks Out on Iraq
Mr. President, you did not listen, General Batiste says in new television advertisements being broadcast in Republican Congressional districts as part of a $500,000 campaign financed by http://www.votevets.org You continue to pursue a failed strategy that is breaking our great Army and Marine Corps. I left the Army in protest in order to speak out. Mr. President, you have placed our nation in peril. Our only hope is that Congress will act now to protect our fighting men and women.
Why Iraq Was a Mistake
By Lt. General GREGORY NEWBOLD, Retired
http://tinyurl.com/p4j93 Apr. 09, 2006
From 2000 until October 2002, I was a Marine Corps lieutenant general and director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. After 9/11, I was a witness and therefore a party to the actions that led us to the invasion of Iraq--an unnecessary war.
Inside the military family, I made no secret of my view that the zealots' rationale for war made no sense. And I think I was outspoken enough to make those senior to me uncomfortable.
But I now regret that I did not more openly challenge those who were determined to invade a country whose actions were peripheral to the real threat--al-Qaeda.
I retired from the military four months before the invasion, in part because of my opposition to those who had used 9/11's tragedy to hijack our security policy. Until now, I have resisted speaking out in public. I've been silent long enough.
General Eaton's Letter to President Bush on Veto
May 1, 2007 http://tinyurl.com/2umrln
Dear Mr. President,
Today, in your veto message regarding the bipartisan legislation just passed on Operation Iraqi Freedom, you asserted that you so decided because you listen to your commanders on the ground.
Respectfully, as your former commander on the ground, your administration did not listen to our best advice. In fact, a number of my fellow Generals were forced out of their jobs, because they did not tell you what you wanted to hear -- most notably General Eric Shinseki, whose foresight regarding troop levels was advice you rejected, at our troops' peril. http://securingamerica.com/ccn/node/11973

Retired two-star Army Gen. John Batiste is lashing out at the Bush war in Iraq in ads targeting key Republicans up for re-election in 2008. His offensive may change the rules regarding civilian-military relations.
"Mr. President, you did not listen," he says. "You continue to pursue a failed strategy that is breaking our Army and Marine Corps."
The ad is scheduled to air from May 10 to 18, targeting Republican Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), John Sununu (New Hampshire), John Warner (Virginia) and Norm Coleman (Minnesota), and 10 GOP House members, including Mary Bono, Phil English, Randy Kuhl, Jim Walsh and Heather Wilson.

ya watch any television? people constantly refer to what ever heritage they maybe..so that don't fly,and as far as applications they should not ask anything about race! You need to wake up!
