Sorry to say that Madison Central is out of control, they have no discipline!! Teachers in surrounding county's make more money and have more discipline then Madison county! Rockcasle high does not allow kids to have their cell phones out in class, but here the teachers are constantly fighting with the kids over cell phones! Mr Thomas thinks that cell phones are OK in the class room! I bet if he was teaching he would change his mind!! And it's crazy to think that kids are having Sex on the school grounds is totally out of control! Thomas and his staff do not care or they would back up the teachers instead of siding with the kids!! We need to pay our teachers with the same salary as surrounding county's! Before the good ones leave like so many have are going to! And Mr Floyd you need to come over and stay 1 month instead of 1 hour, AND really see what is going on! Thomas and his staff are in over their heads! If we want our kid to do better in life than we
have it all starts at school!! Back up the teachers so they can do their jobs!!!!!!!!

This has all been said so many times and those that have the power to change anything turn a blind eye. And you are right, the good teachers have left, and those remaining are looking for positions elsewhere. If nothing is done Central will soon be nothing more than a holding cell. It is disgraceful what administration has done to that school. For example, do you know administration announced to the students that the drug dogs are coming? Now ask yourself, why would administration want this information given to students?

I would hate for my child to go to central!! It's crazy there!! What's worse is that middle schoolers go there daily for class! Brainstorm Of Thomas and Floyd I guess. Imagine everything you just described but through the eyes of an impressionable 13 year old!!

Well that has nothing to do with the school, that has to do with your parenting skills! There are a ton of children there who don't like it, support it and stand against it! Where you send your children has little bearing on what they choose to be affiliated with, that comes from home....just saying!!

Just for the record, I was a Rebel Runner many moons ago and now I probably take care of many of you and your children---with no complaints. So really just let the kids be kids!

Well just for the record, I take care me and my child with zero help from anyone else! And I don't have a problem with a little "rebellion" as long as it doesn't have a negative meaning behind it ie... race, gender or religion etc! But the Confederate Flag needs to be taken out of the situation by educating the kids on what the whole situation stands for, because it is offensive!! If you look at what this topic is about overall, with Central being out of control I totally agree! Education wise they are 140ish out of 200! Southern is around 80ish! Central has more BS going on there than I could've imagined via sex on campus, racial tension, drug searches and fighting! I get the 'One Call' once or twice a week sometimes, saying the school is on lock down for whatever reason and that's ridiculous! I've only gotten one from Southern and that was when the shooting occurred in Berea!

What I want to know is were is the outrage from the community? When my kids were in school they knew better than to talk back to the teachers! They knew if they had they would be in trouble! Don't parents want better for their kids? it's sad we are losing so many future stars!! Our school officials do not care about these kids, as long as the record look good on them! I just pray that it does not get any worse or God forbid something bad happens!

That flag was a part of out history. Nothing wrong with it. Just represents a time in the past and btw the flag is beautiful.

How about some parents do some parenting and thier kids wouldn't act the way they do? That might help. Oh -I forgot, it is the school's job to be the parents along with everything else. You won't find teachers that care more about kids anywhere else than MC. Sure there are some that need to go just like anywhere but my kids loved MC and their teachers. It doesn't matter who is principal, if the parents aren't parenting, the teachers and principals can't be effective.

My daughter goes to Southern and has never and will never be part of the rebel run and I don't even have to be the adult about it. She chooses to not be part of it. So not ALL kids at Southern approve and join in on it.

ET tries to be nice guy.I said it from the getgo. ET is the wrong guy for the job. He rarely circulates. They need another ISS lady. Ann misses too many days.A full time security officer would help. Class size reductions would help. Laura D. is the only principal that will get in the kids face when they act up. Kids shouldn't be allowed to skip, talk back to teachers etc..

I don't think it is a good idea for the bright 8th graders to come there in the mornings. ET is NOT The man for the job. ET is too much of a gentleman. ET needs some balls.
ET could get rid of the trouble makers. It is time to bring back alternative school and get RID OF PASS.

ET and company will fire a first year teacher for discipline problems. But they allow students in the school with criminal backgrounds. Safety is an issue. ET needs to send some students packing. And they won't punish special ed kids.

What I want to know is were is the outrage from the community
They don't get involved because they DO NOT know what happens. Heck, that is one reason why schools don't want guests and use the security issue. In most school shootings, the shooter was a STUDENT and not a visitor?

ET seems to think it is the teacher's job to be on after school duty. The problems are IN the school and DURING school hours, ET.

I took grief for questioning his choice here but I think others are seeing the writing on the wall. ET is a gentleman but too laid back and easy going. He will not be confrontational. He is afraid to kick trouble makers out. He allows kids to talk back and then listen to THEIR story in the office.

Central is too big. When a school gets over 1200 students, it is time for a new school. A new high school should have been built before they built Caudill and Farristown.

They could have left Madison Middle as Madison High after the remodel. The Madison Middle students could have gone to CMMS or BMCMS. Instead they chose to remodel and make it a middle school to feed into MCHS, then built another middle school BMCMS which could have been another high school instead. Farristown was needed Foley was having to use Southern for classrooms to hold all the students. Not real pleased that the students had to share Southern until Farristown was complete. 6-7-and 8 graders with the high school students not the best thought out plan.

There is not a principal in this county that is to blame for all of this. They have no backing from their superiors at the Central office. If they suspend a kid they are ask to explain in great detail why "they" have failed to control them. They have to do multiple forms to report each detail. No person wants to go thru that and risk their own job so everyone talks and talks and talks and talks some more to ensure little Johnny goes home happy.
