What a shame for Richmond. We went from one narcissistic bimbo in Connie Larson to one narcissistic idiot with a Caesar complex like Jimmy Barnes. Jimmy Horward lied when he told the Richmond Register that the “new” parking lot was only going to cost $39,000. That is only the cost of the asphalt. He is spending over $20,000 of the tax payers money on landscaping. In all, it will cost over $220,000.00. And for what? Nothing! This is the money he got from raping all the city workers.. No pay raises, loss of vacation time, no longevity pay for loyal workers, etc…. All while the Madison County and Berea employees got raises year after year. Actually just another swimming pool only cheaper. But the same stupid decision process. I think all city worker should pick a day and call in sick! Get rid of all of them.....

The failings in this town are indeed great. But why I wonder. Can this be the product of inbreeding, or simply to many shots of alcohol and pills.

Why does this area portray itself as the sinkhole of the entire world? Why do the people allow this to continue.

Why continue allowing trashy families to open more and more liquor stores and bars. Can the leaders not see that they are profiting from the out of touch pundits attending EKU and the local scum all flocking to buy their junk.

A real leader would rally the people and run the vermin out of town. But alas, this area is destined to have nothing but trash and less than desirable people.

I am not concerned though, another year or so and I am out of here and back to decent god fearing people trying to do good and better themselves instead of trying to get a bigger welfare check so they can buy more pills.

Clearly the workers in Richmond are overpaid already. Take the trash people for example. Trash on almost every street and why? Because they are lazy. Can their butts and hire better people.
Look at the gas and water people. Whoever is in control down there needs to be fired immediately. Look at them ob any of their job sites. One man working and 5 or 6 more standing in the street on the payroll doing nothing. A real supervisor would pull up and have them get to work or send them home.
I would bet we could fire half of them and no notice a bit of difference.

Why avoid the rush and get out now numbnut. Richmond has plenty of decent people and we will be rid of one undesirable the minute you leave.

I find it amazing the City can find money to work on the city parking lot but can't find the money to fix areas of town that have been flooding for years..... I liked the comment by mayor BARNES, the city building needs to look like we are in business. Just goes to show he does not care about citizens

How true. I know a city worker they all are looking for other work. This shirt salesman would be fired if he worked for an actual company. Let us not forget that he can't help the people with flooded basements but he finds the money to redecorate his office for over $10.000.00. So sad. He still thinks he was "voted in" . He doesn't realize that the other were simply "vote out". His fate as well....along with all of his cronie commissioners.

Mayor barnes inherited this mess. He could take a lesson from Ann Durham, she left the city with a seven million dlr. Surplus. And no debt.

Lets hope not. Look at Main Street, all the stupidity of one lane each way instead of two, and those nasty lights. That was her mother that screwed that up. So if she runs, then we need to stop her before she can screw up things as well. And the post office deal, what was the real story there.

The only thing you got right is your name. Connie Lawson was mayor when the traffic lanes on main street changed and she left the city with a major debt because the spending was out of control and not appropriately monitored.

I did not vote for Barnes, but I've got to admit that he's done a good job of getting our finances in order. After all, he inherited quite a mess from the Lawson/Brewer/Strong/Kay Jones administration. No more drama with the flip-flop restaurant liquor sale; pie-in-the-sky swimming pool or Camp Catalpa fraud(still can't figure out why the Feds didn't pick that one up). Barnes has fignaguled a 2 million dollar surplus. Good move in eliminating an unnecessary Brewer orchestrated fire station(remember his 911 power play that cost the City $500,000 a year for 6-7 years?). And, I liked the way he stood up to the angry horde over the Lackey property/student housing zone change. The project is looking pretty nice.

But, most of all, I give him Kudos for getting rid of those obnoxious speed bumps. Now if he would just hire a real City Manager...one with grant writing experience.
