Comapritively inexpensive compared to other institutions with similar offerings, geographically location if they're locals, the state's law enforcement and criminal justice academy is here, wantig something better than taking orders and handing bags of fast food out of the second window, or perhaps unwilling to defraud our ailing government of welfare checks so they can camp out on computers and demonstrate their ignorance?

Just off the top of my head, of course.

EKU is actually a pretty reputable school.. More so then some of the other universities in KY.. I know people who commute from the cincinnati and louisville area to go to Eastern.. Im sure they could easily be going to the school's in those cities..

No. I had a 29 on my ACT, extra-curricular activities, and a 4.0 GPA. They accepted me, but I turned them down. It is just a crappy party school with low educational standards. The average ACT range is 18-23. How wonderful... There are so many better schools to choose from in the state of Kentucky. It is my advice to try for more college visits to other schools and to not settle for this one.

Thank you so much for your informative post! I'm sure EKU will see its enrollment drop now.

I was showing Bobby Bee that I am able to get into EKU. Also, I do not try to make people feel dumb. If someone feels dumb, it is partially their own fault for not recognizing their potential and striving for better, since there is always room for improvement.

Even though there is better out there, enrollment will not drop. Don't worry.

EKU stopped being a party school about 12 years ago when the popo started cracking on downtown. I remember going to Sutter's on a Wednesday night and it being shoulder to shoulder so many people now you can drive down main street at 12:05 am without risk of hitting a drunk college kid.
It is still a party school regardless of the police being more active in this area. It is not as severe as it was in the past, but it is still pretty bad and not a good place to attend if you want a fine educational experience.

Don't be so narrow minded. First off the ACT is not an accurate test of someones ability to be smart and successful. I am a perfect example, I had a low ACT score. I went to EKU graduated with a bachelors degree and cum laude. I got accepted into a very competitive graduate program at EKU and am now getting my Master's degree. EKU has been a wonderful school especially in my department. It was ranked 24th out of all graduate schools in the US. If you have the resources and ability to go somewhere else because you want then do so...but do not bad mouth EKU a great school that helps many students get a college degree.

EKU is a great institution. Every college you goto is going to be a party place whether it's EKU or Dartmouth. Many great people have came and gone from that campus and have excelled in life. It's up in the top ranking for not only the law enforcement program, but for nursing also. My wife graduated from there with a BA in elementary ed. So before you try it don't knock it because you see a few drunks stumbling around. Because any college is google to be what you make of it

It's just a thread. There's really no need to be imperative. Not many people like EKU, and you're the one who seems to be narrow-minded by not tolerating another person's opinion and accepting differences.

There will be party kids no matter where you attend school. However, EKU is one of the worst I have seen. I will agree with you and previous posters that it does have a good criminal justice and law enforcement program. Either way, I think that many Kentucky kids can strive for better. They don't need to settle for this one, unless it is their absolute first choice.

Are you for real? "Not many people like EKU"? I suppose you have researched this? Sure, of course you did. A state and national survey? Of course you did that also. Please! You are entitled to your opinion, but don't confuse YOUR skewed opinion with what others may or may not think. So unless you are attending a top 10 university (and unfortunately you won't find ANY of those in the state of KY)you are comparing apples and oranges or maybe your college of choice is Morehead State and you are suffering from a inferiority complex.

Comparing ACT scores are just dumb. As a publicly funded university, the average ACT scores are always going to be lower than private colleges because they allow for wider ranges of people.

Plus, lets face it not everyone is good at standardized test at 8am on Saturday mornings. I was 4.0+ all through school and my ACT scores were 3-4 less than what a bunch of others in my class did. But who cares? As long as its high enough for admission nobody gives a crap what your ACT was after you graduate.

Wow. It's amazing how riled up you all are getting over this. Not many people that I've talked to like EKU. I just posted a nice little thread with my opinions and the opinions of others who have attended this school. I don't have an inferiority complex, but I hate EKU. MSU seems to be a shitty college, also. It's not a big deal. It's going to be okay. Really.

You must be so bored that you can't even do a simple grammar and spelling check. I hate this school and wanted people to know it, so I posted a thread on Topix. There was really no need to get defensive for them. Like someone else said, I doubt that this thread will slow down the enrollment and application rate. While the inexpensiveness of this school is a positive, the other aspects that come along with it are negative. Everyone views things differently. No biggie.

Do you have to live on campus (freshman undergraduate) if you have a child? It seems that the only exemptions from dormitory fees are if you're 21, have more than four semesters, you're married, or live with parents fifty miles from campus. Please help! Thanks.
