I've been looking around Richmond to try to get an apartment, and so far Hagar seems to be the cheapest apartments.

I found one that's all bills paid, completely furnished, has a washer & dryer, and pet friendly. It's only a 1 bdrm, but it's all I'll need. Are these apartments any count? The one I'm looking at is on Maple Rd, which on the map looks like it's right down from Madison Central on the left.

I rented from them in a different area for over 10 years but it's been 7 years ago, They were always good to work with they came and fixed eveything that needed work. I didn't have any problems and yes I agree they are reasonable priced but they want their rent money. They used to charge a fee if you were late and if you went past a dead line I think they'll send you an eviction notice. Good Luck!!

Thanks :)

Do you know how the neighborhoods tend to be? I haven't been around Richmond very long at all, living with my parents until I get a place of my own.

Not sure about Maple Hill but haven't heard anything bad about the area.

I rented from them for almost 8 years on Claiborne Drive. Hager is good. They never raised my rent for the entire 8 years I was a tenant with them. They do charge a pet fee, but it wasn't much. Just pay your rent on time each month and you should have no problems with Hager.

They do not allow mirrors on the ceilings.

just make sure you go through the apartment before you move in and write down anything that is wrong. I was sent a huge bill for burning holes in the carpet and we don't smoke!!!!

I rent from hager and it has been nothing short of satisfying. If something breaks, I can always count on them to be there to fix it with in a day or so.

I rented from them once and while you are there they are ok to rent from but once you move out you better watch out. They are likely to charge you for everything under the sun even light bulbs. That has happened to me and to some friends of mine. You better make sure that place is clean as a whistle when you move out.

Are you talking about the Apt's there on Hager Drive? At the top of the hill by the church (just down the road from Richmond Plz)?

It usually looks pretty trashy around there, but I don't know what their service is like. Be aware though, there are a couple thieves that live down that road I know for sure, and won't think twice about stealing from you. Sad, but true. I'm not sure what the people in the apartments are like though.

How much does Hager charge for those?

I would definitely recommend looking into Foxglove as was mentioned previously. Also, you may want to check out Shawnee Trail apt's. I used to live there about a year ago, and I had a one bedroom, all bills included for $390/mo. The one I had didn't have W/D in it, but they have a little laundromat place there by the office with nice utilities.

Hope you find something. Good luck.

I'm looking at one on Maple Hill, I believe the name is. On the map, it looks likes it's right up from Madison Central on the left. Hagar owns it, but it's not on Hagar Drive. It's a 1 bdrm 1 bath, all utilities paid, washer/dryer, dish washer, garbage disposal, and pet friendly. It's $420 a month. It's VERY small, according to the rental listing, but I don't need big space for just me.

Can't be much smaller than what I'm living in now. Single, no kids so I don't need a huge place either. Sounds interesting though. If they have more like it, I may check it out. If that's the only one they have available though, I won't pursue.:)

Sorry for the double post.
I just realised where you were talking about; Madison Central High School! For some reason I was thinking of the new Richmond Plaza they built over by the interstate.
I know exactly where that area is though. Shawnee is just down the road from it. But if it has W/D and dishwasher furnished, then it's probably a better deal.
Any idea if those apartments have any infestations or anything like that?
I've never really seen the apartments up close - the closest I've ever been was that Marathon gas station right there in front.

Nah, it's ok. They have a bunch on the same street for the same price. Even if they do get snatched up, I'm sure there'll be more to come free later. I'm not in a rush, just wanting to get out on my own for the 1st time.

If you don't have much furniture, there's one for $480 a month that's the same as the one for $420 a month but completely furnished.

This is the website I found it on:

I don't have much furniture, but I don't rent places that come furnished though, either... No telling what someone before me has done on it. Y'know?

First time on your own? That's cool - must be exciting.

It was a wake-up call for me, I was pretty much homeless. Lol. I've done good for myself though. Great job, decent place to stay. No complaints.

Thanks for the website. I'll check it out.

I'm not in a rush either - gonna finish paying my car off in the next 4 months, then I'll start looking around seriously. I may just stay here until I find a place further in the country that I want to buy. Not much of a city person.

Just hope I can get cable internet in the sticks... If not, my WoW will suffer greatly; so will xbox and ps3.:(

I agree! They will charge you for everything when you move out. Even things such as not wiping off the fan above the stove and they will try to keep your deposit. They tried to say I couldn't have my deposit bc I broke my lease, which BTW is against ky landlord/tenant laws. When I pointed this out, the manager found a way to fine more than my deposit in damages. And don't bother trying to communicate to resolve this. They, specifically Linda, is not cooperative. If you deal w anyone, talk to Faye. She is much more polite and understanding than the manager. But, def make sure u document everything and take pics when u move out.
