With the current law on Marijuana here in Kentucky. And considering the fact that 29 states have some kind of Marijuana law making it legal.

We are losing millions in tourism because the smokers will not come to Kentucky.

This is the same as when the bikers would not come around because of our helmet law.

Every day or so I have request for Kentucky's stance on Marijuana from potential customers that cannot believe we are not allowing them to come here.

Change the law today. Stop screwing with people for nothing, and Marijuana is nothing compared to alcohol, and allow the tourism trade to flourish.

wow, are you really that dumb? before your dumb ass gets on here and complaining (and even more so if you really are a business owner, which i highly doubt) why don't you read into the law that was passed.

it doesn't allow every person to grow thier own weed and get walk around with a few pounds of it. it's for medical use only!

if you are a business owner, i don't see you staying in business very long considering just how dumb you are!

Although I agree with your stance, the number one reason that tourist won't come to KY is that it sucks! The same reasons that kids are on drugs or having babies. There is nothing to do here! The bigots are more than real world people can tolerate. The level of ignorance toward people who are different than them is impregnated. People don't want to come to a state where everyone is poor because there is no opportunity for a better life here. People don't want to deal with the ignorance. People want to come and have fun, build memories, and enjoy their experience. It's hard to do with an over zealous police department and the ignorance of the locals toward people who don't look or sound like them. I mean God forbid someone believes something different than you do. They surely must be an idiot. You want people to come to Kentucky and spend their money? Educate your citizens so that they will be able to deal with the reality that everyone is different and that is beautiful! You have to spend money to make money! People can only hike up some rocks and see some horses so much before it becomes boring. Hell, give your own citizens something to do with their free time for that matter. And yes, you're right! Stop fucking with people for stupid shit. Like good ol MJ. I myself am not a smoker but I've never met one that could harm a fly! If anything they will spend more money on snacks and funny movies. The biggest factor here is stop spending all of the tax dollars chopping down these plants when these plants could bring big revenue for this state! You are spending money to get rid of something that could make you lots of it!!!! It's not just about the money either. Ky has some of the strictest prescription pill laws and guidelines yet they have the biggest problem! It just doesn't work. Imagine the people that could use MJ for chronic pain and not have their lives ruined by pills. Common sense people!

The real reason people are rejecting Kentucky is because of the people, people like Goofy that posted #3 above.

It's sad but true, number 3. To number 4, the poster in #3 has made the most sense on this thread. This is what people from out of state think when they come here. I should know because I have lived in other states that don't have the mentioned problems. I think that you're part of the said problems and so your feelings got hurt and you wanted to call them names. Don't worry, Jesus loves you!

An Arizona group of 232 Seniors were scheduled to tour the Civil War trail, and the Cumberland Gap area arriving here on March 15.

Rooming deposits were in place and things were ready for their arrival.

After speaking with the Director of Tourism in Frankfort. The party canceled.

Their reason. No Medical Marijuana reciprocal agreement with other states. They would not be coming here.

So as I sent their $15000 dollar check back to cover rooming deposits, I feel Kentucky needs to get its ass into the 21 century.

I called Frankfort yesterday and was told they hear this every day from one group or another. So I ask again, how much money is our elected leaders costing us by sitting on their asses and not passing the laws the state needs.

Where I work we deal with tourist all the time. And yes, we hear about the lack of a Marijuana law. We have had numerous cancellations over the last few years, and yes, it is getting worse. When we approach a club or group to make offers, the Marijuana laws are one of the first things mentioned. The lack of a Marijuana law to legalize does indeed cause tourist to abstain from coming here.

I agree that the state changed the motorcycle helmet law because the bikers would not come into Kentucky. They made millions with that move as it opened tourism to the biker people.
So I can see why someone from a Marijuana friendly state would be hesitant to come here if they could be arrested for something they, and their state of residence do not consider illegal.

In my opinion, The Equal Protection Clause, part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, provides that "no state shall ... deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."[1] The Fourteenth Amendment Equal Protection Clause applies only to state governments, but the requirement of equal protection has been read to apply to the federal government as a component of Fifth Amendment due process.

So I feel they are already allowed to bring their personal possessions here when they are visiting. But then I sell insurance, not enforce the laws.

people did come to KY because of the helmet law.... That's a reach. Maybe they just followed suit with the surrounding states.

I've ridden throughout KY with my helmet on for 35+ years with a helmet on. Didn't make me enjoy the state any less..

What state really wants/needs more pot heads anyway?

Yes number 1 is ok but taking a number 2 Is more gratifying but taking a number 1 while doing number 2 is the best :)
