it took over 3 weeks to set it up and 4 different service calls due to their OWN incompetent staff: first guy said the drop line would be too long to run from the pole after "accurately" measuring it by walking to the pole and back, when the truck came to run the longer line they decided not to run it because the first guy was full of it - but they didn't tell us about it, so i had to call in to get the third guy. he got it installed but then it took them a week to send someone to bury the line

for another 2 weeks the service would go down Every. Night. for hours on end

as of right now, the connection goes down on a weekly basis for several hours at a time, if not a full day

trying to get technical support without being patronized about removing power cords to reset the modem is impossible

calling to technical support the transfer conveniently doesn't work and it ends the call

they don't want to ever have to send a line technician anywhere, and they don't service their lines properly to adjust the signal

since they have a monopoly, they put in the least amount of effort to keep customers satisfied. threatening to cancel doesn't spur them because they know there are no comparable alternatives

if they do happen to send a technician either for the local or the dropline there is no guarantee that they've done their job properly except to have uninterrupted service for a continuous amount of time, a hopeful result which hasn't been the case for me for the last !!5 months!! since i started service with them

the speeds that they provide are below national average but the price is higher than the average

there is no fibre optic solution and even if there was it would likely be as poorly maintained as their coaxial service

These people are idiots. I moved from another state were I had Comcast cable. I move to KY and I start getting calls to return equipment from Time Warner or face a 500 charge. I have never had Time Warner cable in my life. If their record keeping is this bad, I can imagine the rest of the service.

Kentucky still has broadcast TV? If so I will get an antenna too.

You guys are idiots. You don't understand the technology. Time Warner does offer Fiber in Richmond, ALL of Richmond is on fiber already to each node. The coax only runs a short distance normally less than a mile to your house. If they ran fiber to each individual house the cost would be astronomical. That brings up another point; they will run fiber to your house if you pay for it ($500 a month is the starting point) but its intended for business use.
Signal issues like you describe are normally caused by inside wiring. Make sure the tech that comes checks the signal level outside and inside of your home. Make sure there aren't a bunch of splitters in the line.

I have Time Warner, and the fastest service they offer. Many times I cannot even stream video. They blame whatever they can depending on who you talk to. But the bottom line is they need more equipment for the number of people on it.

What is your tech number? Sounds like you know a lot. TWC is great, it's the Irvine rejects they have repairing the mainlines. Anytime I see the old guy in the bucket truck he is on the phone or playing video games on the side of the road. Get rid of the dead weight, fix the lines on the poles and you will see better speeds. TWC still smokes AT&T on dependability and speeds, if the price were just better!

I've had the same problems. Tech always tells me (like 10 times now) it's just the line to our house - even though we both know it's not true. Thats been replaced 3 times, and no improvement at all. Honestly, I don't think they have a clue what's wrong.

Lol at TWC workers defending them. That company sucks and it's been this way since day 1. I don't know what that says about us idiots that keep paying em...I'll switch someday. Att doesn't seem much better, if at all, from what I've heard.

AT & T HAS WORKED MUCH BETTER FOR ME.I wish I had changed long ago. Went thru the same thing with lines from the house (underground at that) being changed.

From my own experience tw is miles better than att for internet Except for the extended outage Saturday evening I haven't had any complaints. Fyi they have a three call minimum before they will dispatch a truck so check with your neighhbors. I hate tw for television though. dish is much better and more channels for the same price.

I don't live in BFE or in some substandard craphole with 20 yr old wiring, and that's probably why I have had zero issues. Have had data-only cable service through TWC & before the buy-out Adelphia. I have always gotten consistent speeds 4x that of AT&T & other DSL slow-pokes, rarely have an outage, & never had a service issue that wasn't explained or fixed in a hurry. Even had full service through the duration of that nasty ice storm a few years ago. So when I see complaints here, I know it's probably on the user end, because my service & my neighbors' has been nothing but great.

Sounds like a devoted employee to me, I like how you all claim you can get cable internet and home phone for $29 each (which would make our bill $97 per month) but when the bill comes in it's $165 to $175. That's almost twice what you all claim it will be.

Not an employee. Just because I'm a vocal, informed, tech savvy & highly satisfied customer who disagrees with your petulant bitching doesn't make me a company shill, much as that would support your supposedly righteous cause. No, I'm just a guy that disagrees with you. Cope with it as you see fit, be it via "he's an employee" fantasies or more cry-baby posts on a gossip forum.

And I don't know what you're talking about on plan pricing, because, as I said above and you may have caught, had you been attentive/literate enough to read it: I am a data-only** customer.

**That means "only Internet," in case you were wondering.

I have a mobile phone, so no need for a redundant digital phone service. I have an antenna, Netflix, Hulu & other web sources for premium programming, and know how to stream them to the TV, so I have no need for a cable TV package.

And my data-only service has been superb 99.99% of the time, barring minor interrupts for scheduled service or damage repair.

Given you're not even able to read through an entire post or define simple concepts therein, much less able to decipher your own bills, I've concluded that you're moron, and thus don't know how to use the tech you complain about.

Therefore it's not a leap to assume you're too foolish to have tested your internal lines, and perhaps too sorry/broke to make any necessary upgrades at your end.

Or you may just live out in NoOneCares Land & just need to suck it up or move. Can't say as I care about all that.

What matters is that my opposing viewpoint has been provided so that others don't think your complaints are representative of everyone else's experiences with TWC. If that troubles you, too bad.

looking for a new service provider, the lines aren't taken care of properly and the techs are lazy.

TWC just raised my rate, I had been on a contracted rate for the last 4 years at $97ish, now they want $150. I'm gonna go to the local office and see what can be done. People that are experiencing problems, check your connections- I had some trouble with splitters going bad, and buy a nice router if your going wireless. Don't always grab the cheapest thing and expect gold service.
