Eastern Kentucky University Has armed police officers patrolling your childern's dorms and they are taking them to jail for public intoxication, disorderly conduct, anything your crazy child says or does that the officer doesn't like. You may want to reconsider the dorm.

If they are drunk in the hallways of the dorm, that is a public area and they can and will be arrested if caught. If they were in there room then they should not have been arrested because that is a private area and should get dismissed when they go to court.

So... Your point is that disorderly and/or drunk or stoned people should be allowed to cause disturbances in the hallways of residential facilities while other residents are trying to sleep or study?

I think armed police patrolling the dorms are a good think considering a young lady was raped in her dorm room during the spring semester, so if you are concerned for your child's safety then you would want the added protection, if not then what kind of parent are you? Thank goodness your not mine..

Let's hope police are cracking down on drunkenness and drug use by students.

Too many students get sucked into a destructive lifestyle. They get drunk or stoned every night, listen to ugly music, wear ugly, tacky clothes (a lot of the EKU women dress like hookers), hang out at bars when they should be studying.

Why should parents pay good money just to watch their kids sink into depravity.

At WKU a few years ago a female student was raped and murdered, set on fire IN HER DORM ROOM.

EKU Police may not be perfect, but I'll take an armed cop in my dorm over a couple of monsters like that any day.

In Richmond their are monsters on the police force just as savage as those animals who committed the atrocity at WKU. An armed Richmond cop is an armed rapist.

Emma,

I have read those news stories. This is a completely different problem. But you're right. According to reports, there seem to be some bad apples on the force.

UK only allows police in the lobby they have the RA's take care of the dorm and they call police if needed. I just hope a child doesn't get shot. Some new inexperienced police can get a little cocky.

I was under the impression the EKU had their own police force. I have never heard of the Richmond police patrolling campus dorms or campus for that matter. The only PD cars besides campus police, I have seen on campus are Booneville police cars "patrolling" for girls.

The kids that you refer to are not kids, they are adults. Where better to get educated than collage, if they break the law they go to jail. It will cost less to get bailed out of jail and learn a lesson than the classes and books your already paying for.

enough said i think... you're wrong about that... if there is alcohol in the room and its seen by hall staff, your child gets documented for alcohol violation. if there are visitors in the room they are documented... if the police are present and anyone is disorderly or too intoxicated, they go to jail.

It also doesn't go to court, it goes to student judiciary, although your child will spend a few hours in the sherriff's office at the MCDC.

EKU police is different from RPD. RPD is the one with all the rape and abuse allegations. I have never heard anything bad about EKU officers. And i would prefer the extra protection over having to look over my shoulder everytime I walk the halls. As for the inexperiance part, an EKU officer has to have previous law enforcement experiance before he/she is hired because if the cockiness of college students. You don't know what those kids are capable of when they drunk/high/stoned.

hey the cops should be armed hell half the kids has weapons and the rest are dumb and they try to hurt people and you would be mad if your kid got hurt by someone and it could of been stopped if the cops were there. doing there job I am not saying that some of the cops are not d***heads but some of here because they want to protect you and me

Poor poor Emma RPD does not patrol EKU dorms that would be EKUPD, they have a little more in the form of morals than RPD does.

Sorry honey but if you are arrested and put in the Madison county jail then YOU WILL GO TO MADISON DISTRICT COURT there are no exceptions, do you really think that MCDC is going to house EKU students for free? NOT. They will not except any prisoners without the arresting officer filling out a state citation. Which means there will be a fine/jail time and an appearance in district court. If the officer only writes a EKU citation (no arrest)then they appear before the student judiciary.
