I AGREE THAT SINCE THE LARGE FOR PROFIT "EXTENDICARE" TOOK OVER THINGS STARTED TO GO DOWN HILL FAST. TEN YEARS AGO, WHEN I WAS EMPLOYED THERE THE COMPLEX WAS OWNED BY THE LOUISVILLE BASED COMPANY "EPI". THEY WERE A SMALL COMPANY WITH HOMES ONLY IN KENTUCKY. ALTHOUGH THEY WERE A FOR PROFIT COMPANY, THEY WERE NOT ANYTHING LIKE THE HUGE "EXTENDICARE"CONGLOM ERATE. WHAT'S MORE, EXTENDICARE IS ACTUALLY A CANADIAN OWNED COMPANY! THEY ARE ONE OF THE LARGEST LONGTERM CARE CORPORATIONS IN THE WORLD. PROFIT MARGIN IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR THEM. WHILE EPI WAS ALSO FOR PROFIT, THEY DISPPLAYED A GREAT DEAL OF CARE AND COMPASSION FOR THE RESIDENTS. THEY NEVER HAD ANY OF THEIR 15 KENTUCKY HOMES RANKED AS THE "WORST IN THE NATION". THINK ABOUT IT!

How low can anyone get as to abuse the helpless and disabled!
I have been in nursing home that put on a good face and they are trained to put on that spin.
The CNA's for the most part are good hardworking and caring people.
STUFF rolls down hill, most all abuse is encouraged or overlooked by management because it is in their own best interest, not in the patient. One suchg example is the Christian Care in Lancaster. Seems the top dog was being a dog and using the beds and sheets with the staff, and it wasn't special training.
As long as we as family members look the other way, our family members will continually be abused. If you want to see how your loved one is treated, show up in the middle of the night, or at 4 am when they staff is getting them out of bed and placing them in a circle around the nurses station in wheelchairs, to set there for hours on end, something a healthy person could not endure. Of course things are gonna be rosy when you make that afternoon visit for 30 minutes, these people aren't dumb, just despicable.

I think the government should pass a law to have cameras put in every room. That way we would have everything on tape and maybe would stop some of this abuse and neglect.

That will never happen because that is a major invasion of privacy and sometimes, a little privacy is all that these people have left. It is up to the famiy member to put cameras in if they are concerned.

Ok family members. If you have a loved one at Madison Manor you better be concerned and install a camera in their room. Then the facts are on tape and these people can be prosecuted along with the administrators and the owners.

I know that a lot of people on here are trying to just keep gossip going, but I've been very happy with the staff and madison Manor! I think you all on here don't really know what going on you all just hear one bad story and don't have anything better to do then to bash a company and it's employees. Like I said though, they take good care of my family members!!

Does anyone know the directer. I over heard some commits she made at the Christmas party. these were made to the staff. They were not nice. she comes across as mean and vindictive. i have had a couple of complaints with her. now she stares daggers at me every time i am in the building. i think she must keep fear in the others that work there now. i wish the staff looked and acted happy. when the staff is happy, they will give better care to the residents. i am afraid she will take out my complaints on my mom. mom has little memory and can not tell me if she is mean to her.
the party was not done well. there was stress on everyone. the comments she made to some of the staff were very mean and said in a hateful way.
my mom did get nice gifts from the staff. i though that was very nice. most of the staff are nice.
just not enough follow up and communication between them. would love to know more about this directer
makes me sad

I used to work at madison manor, I'm a male and as far as I could see everything was done to code. If you've never walked a mile in the shoes of another then maybe you should just shut the hell up. I had several residents families invite me to gatherings and functions because we treated them so well. that was back in 2006-2008..
SO U MUST HAVE BEEN THERE WHEN LITTLE MISS THOMAS WAS ABUSED .SO THAT SHOULD TELL EVERYBODY SOMETHING

blah blah, you should come forward and name the people and how they are abusing the residents so they can be prosecuted. that is going to be the only way this can be stopped.

If you know for a fact someone is abusing anyone whiether they are at Madison Manor or at home you are responsible to notify the authorities. If you don't and it is found out you knew. You can be prosecuted for abuse also. You ARE just as guilty as the one doing it.

Aside from being "very nice", you are also "very uninformed". Tiffany Cox is not new. She has been there well over a year. She was there when the video of the abused resident was released to the media. She is a major part of the mismanagement there along with the Regional Director, Cindy Simpson. I would trust those folks to tend cattle, let alone the poor, defenseless elderly. The place smells like strong urine and the lobby is as dark as a dungeon. As far as those posts that say the care is good...the CMS report says it all!

Extendicare is ruining our nursing homes. They hide stuff, dont care about the residents, and dont care to do illegal actions. They have madison manor that has abused their residents, kenwood who can't keep an administrator and fired all their staff who did too good of a job, irvine health and rehab that has a good ole boy administrator who does not consider the residents. They have the most crooked leaders who are Cindi Simpson, Marcie Livingston and Kay Wilson. These three will do anything to save their butts and make self look good. They cover for each other. Kay will meet with state when they come to do surveys and stay right with them. she fixes whatever needs to be fixed to keep the state off their behinds. I think extendicare needs to be run out of town. Also, Tiffany of Madison manor is among those good ole girls. Tiffany will do anything , I mean anything to hide and cover up. If your loved one is in that facility, quickly get them out...... She is evil..I don't know how these four females sleep at night. Do U?
