Thanks for the advice asshole but Ive already been to college. Jobs are hard to come by. I could be on welfare but instead I work 6 days a week. I bet you're a great table to wait on. Why would you assume that because I work in a restaurant that I'm uneducated? Throw another stereotype out there idiot.
You right jobs are hard to come by, and most people work hard for the money that they do have. They will look at everything that you do while in they are eating. When I go out to eat I start at a 15% tip, and your actions can make that tip go up or down. I can tell you one thing, if I have an issue and it does not get fixed right away or you roll your eyes at me you will loose your tip. My wife got the wrong soda once and she asked for the correct soda, and the waitress looked at my wife like she had two heads. That waitress recieved no tip. Small things that you do can cause you to loose your tip, but being a good server can earn you extra. I tip one waitress 75% because of how well she waited on me and my family. Remember some people do not tip because they are assholes. They do not leave a tip because you are an asshole. You may say nice things and have a smile on your face, but body language tells a lot about a person. If a person acts like they do not want to be there serving me, most likely they will not get a tip.

I always wrap my hand over the edge of the table as I order, and if the little honey knows enough to slowly bump her pubis against that hand, then the tip goes way up.
I have frequently tipped 50 percent of the check for many of the hottie's in the area.
The girls know what to do, and are not afraid to show it. Just try and see, wrap your hand across the outer edge of the table and see if your next waitress rubs herself on it.
Many times I have had girls bump against me a time or two then tell me she has to go on break, code for meet me in the restroom area where she will earn her tip proper.

We don't ever eat out because it is too pricey. Plus, I already know what is in my food because I prepare it for my family. I don't want to risk my toddler's meal by some disgruntled server's bodily fluids.

Before we had our kids, my husband and I used to eat out a lot. I tipped pretty good! One other poster said that serving is a gamble. I think that poster is correct. Your livelihood is dependent on the mood of the customer. Personally, I would not want to make that gamble. If I were looking for work right now, I would stick with retail or fast food service. At least those places guarantee that you will be paid min. wage. Plus, I deal with enough whining from my kids so I don't need to hear it from adults. So serving would be a bad job for me for my lack of patience!

add the tips you do get to the $2.13 an hour you get paid. If you get two $5.00 tips in one hour, that's $12.13 an hour you just made. That's more then some factory jobs pay and you have the nerve to whin? Factory workers have to work in 100+ degree weather during summer and most make less then $12.13 an hour

Exactly. I'm tired of hearing servers complain about people not tipping. All it takes it a couple tables to tip in an hour and they have made way over minimum wage! Just bc every single table isn't leaving u $10 tips like u what doesn't mean u arent making anything.

Ive seen a couple people mention that some hours of the day we make more than minimum wage but what about the hours of the day you dont even have a table. I agree that if ur service is bad, dont tip. But when you run someone to death so that your dinning experience is everything you want then your server deserves a tip. I refude to kiss ass for a tip, but I also dont judge people based on how much money I think they have. I try to give the best service I can. If you dont want to tip go through a drive thru. Im sure other jobs are just as hard as mine, i dont feel like Im above anyone bc I expect tips. I work very hard for whatever tips I get and appriciate them all. So thank you to all the people that support tipping your server.

I have a degree but actually can make more money in food service. I have many yrs. experience in the business. it is hard work, for sure. I rarely eat out, when I do, I tip very well when I have a great server. Not so well when the server brings my food and I still have no silverware, not so well if server does not seem to know anything about the menu, won't tip at all if I see the server being nasty, like playing with their hair. Some people just should not work in a restaurant. I will say this, the absolute worst tippers, are the Sunday after church bunch. They will run your ass off and not leave a dime.Guess they left it all on the plate at church. So to all the awesome food service workers out there, don't let some stupid remark get ya down. I know which customers tip and those that don't and I will not worry to much with the ones that don't. Why should I? I am there to make the money , and these cheap azz people know it too. If you serve in a place like cracker barrel, turning over them tabels after an 8 hour shift, you should have at least 100 bucks in your pocket, been doing it all my life and the cool thing about that is you don't have to tell the irs everything.

I completely understand what you are saying. You are right, some serves do have a bad attitude towards customers and I can understand why you wouldn't want to tip in that situation. I try my best to give people the type of service I would want to recieve. Actions often speak louder than words. I think you have a very fair attitude towards tipping. I appriciate people like you. Thank you

Who is the black guy that works at Ocharleys. He is by far the best waiter in town. If more were like him they wouldn't be on here complaining about the lack of tips.

Hey now, not everyone is rude and doesn't tip. Ask Jenny at hooters, she was my waitress, and a damn fine one at that, and I made sure she knew before I left by personally tipping her a ten dollar bill. Only regret I have is not getting her number.
