I also live on the same street as the original poster. I also received a ticket for parking the wrong way in front of my home. I wasn't the one complaining about the ongoing traffic jam of college student cars, but I respect the cops for doing their jobs. I think it was a little petty for an officer to go around the whole neighborhood at 4 in the morning writing multiple tickets. Several of us have lived here for years and it has never been a problem. The issue is a resident ran their big fat mouth complaining about college kids, now we have cops in the area ticketing the shit out of us. I've got 2 tickets this week. Lesson of the day is to grow a pair of balls and go resolve the issue yourself and don't get the law involved.
Do not have a problem with them being college kids, the issue is when you get 4 to 5 of them out there at all hours of the morning being loud, I find that very disrespectful and some people do have to get up early and go to work/school. Tried to resolve the issue and speaking to them as adults, that did not work......

Not complaining about parking the wrong way. DO NOT appreciate the noise they make at early morning hours. We do deserve respect and for them to follow the quite hours.

Quite hours do not exist when it concerns law enforcement. Would you want quite hours when your house was being robbed. Unless your wanting quite hours from your neighbors which I understand. But as far as the cops, the are cops 24/7. Sorry but in the long run it does pay off and I do agree parking tickets like that sucks for you all but you all are admitting that you knowingly parked wrong. Also there may be a time that parking wrong can interfere with an emergency vehicle erring through as well as the possibility te officers are trying to keep streets and hydrants open in the drought situation. And you may find this interesting. If your car is hit vandalized etc while parked illegally( wrong way) by law the insurance does not have to pay for damages. I had no idea about this either. So hey maybe the ticket is worth it in the long run.
Either way it does suck but understand like everyone else who does their job to its fullest the men and women of the law or city or whatever are simply doing their job.

Keep in mind, cops are people too. You get good doctors, bad doctors, same with teachers, lawyers or anyone else. Just because they are cops doesnt make them mistake free. Plus think about it. Would you really want the job? I wouldnt. When a cop pulls someone over, are they a nice person or some thug with an automatic weapon. When they knock on a door, will a grandma answer or will they get blown up because some idiot is running a meth lab. And dont give me a rant about how no one asked them to take the job.

Since parking pointed the wrong way is not mentioned in the Kentucky Revised Statutes, and is not mentioned in the Kentucky Drivers Manual, I would hire an attorney and sue the guy for trespassing on your property, and tampering with your car, since you have the proof he was there.
It is a CITY ordinance http://www.amlegal.com/nxt/gateway.dll/Kentuc... $fn=altmain-nf.htm$3.0$vid=$an c=JD_71.04 Which makes it illegalon city streets.

Since the link I copied and paste didn't work it is city ordinance 71.04 paragraph B which states No vehicle shall be parked with the left side of such vehicle next to the curb, except on one-way streets, and it shall be unlawful to stand or park any vehicle in a street other than parallel with the curb and with the two right wheels of the vehicle within 12 inches of the regularly established curb line, except upon those streets that have been marked for angle parking, vehicles shall be parked at the same angle to the curb indicated by such markings.

If you want to get the expert on parking, talk to Deputy Dawg at Lake Reba. If you dare to park sideways in the shade when there are NO other cars in the parking lot, or park in the shade late afternoon in the boat trailer places at the boat dock even though there are NO boat trailers in sight, he will threaten you with a ticket. I realize it's his job, but he needs to use a little common sense when there's no one else around. I'll move if someone I see needs one of these spots. Don't need him wheeling aroud like he's getting ready to make a drug bust just because someone's just trying to get a little relief from the sun. Lighten' up, cowboy.

Before you begin espousing your legal opinion you should at least do your legal research.

Here is the Richmond City regulations. 71.04 PROHIBITED PARKING ACTS GENERALLY.

(A) At any time it shall be unlawful to permit any vehicle to stand in any of the following places except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, emergency vehicles, or in compliance with the directions of a policeman, a traffic enforcement officer, or a traffic control device:

(1) In any intersection.

(2) In a crosswalk.

(3) Upon a bridge or viaduct or the approach thereto.

(4) At any place where the vehicle would block the use of a driveway.

(5) Within 50 feet of the nearest rail or railroad grade crossing.

(6) Within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any Fire Department station and on the side of the street opposite the entrance to any such station within 75 feet of such entrance when properly posted.

(7) On any sidewalk or parkway.

(8) At any place where official signs prohibit parking.

(9) At any place so designated and marked by red or yellow paint by the Board of Commissioners by order or ordinance.

(10) In any fire lane, or in front of, or within 10 feet of, a fire hydrant or stand pipe.

(B) No vehicle shall be parked with the left side of such vehicle next to the curb, except on one-way streets, and it shall be unlawful to stand or park any vehicle in a street other than parallel with the curb and with the two right wheels of the vehicle within 12 inches of the regularly established curb line, except upon those streets that have been marked for angle parking, vehicles shall be parked at the same angle to the curb indicated by such markings.

Now, you are probably one of those people who does not maintain your car and it is leaking oil. Well Mr. Lawyer, here is the code against that. I am going to report you and get your car towed.

71.03 LEAKING VEHICLES PROHIBITED.

It shall be unlawful for any person to park automobiles, trucks, or other motor driven vehicles or conveyances upon the asphalt streets of the city, if said vehicle leaks or drips oil or gasoline on said streets.

('79 Code, 23-42) Penalty, see 71.99

The sad thing is that typically most Richmond City Officials are not familiar with these codes.

I have to agree with you on this one, that one guy thinks he's all that. He get on someone over parking like that but, if you follow him he'll park the same way. He did that to me and I moved my car only to follow him to the park on the other side of the lake where he was parked sideways across three spaces. I pulled up beside him and asked him if there was two sets of laws he said what do you mean by that I said you made me move when I was parked like that so either you move oe I'll call a REAL cop on you.

People always talk shit about cops until they need one! I think they do a great job but I dont break the law either! If this were able to show names I guarantee that the ones talking shit about cops either are on probation or got tickets like the original poster or been to jail. I on the other hand have never got a ticket, been on probation, or been to jail, or etc. People need to start taking responsibility for the things that they do. It is not the COP'S fault if you run a red light.. It is not the COP'S fault if you park the wrong way on a street... It is not the COP'S fault you do stupid ass shit IT IS YOUR FAULT!!

To be addressed by you is one of the shining moments of my life. You inspired me to stand up to a pushy waitress at The Olive Garden. She asked us if we wanted dessert and I said no. She said the cheesecake was really good and I should get some so I called her a fatty and threw salad at her face. I wish you could have been there, she cried like a baby. That'll teach her to do her job as instructed!
