There are 4 comments on the Examiner.com story from May 22, 2013, titled Can You Handle the Bare Naked Truth?. In it, Examiner.com reports that:

Teens are bombarded from all sides when it comes to messages on sex. At church, they hear, "Wait until marriage," while the rest of the world loudly asks, "Why wait?" Even though they know deep down what they should do, heart and hormones challenge the head.

The heart and the hormones are in inborn, natural normal, and God-given. Conversely, the "you should wait until marriage" is a human construct just like religion is. Don't confuse religion, with God! Now I do agree you should wait until marriage to procreate, but in this day and age of contraception it's just silly to treat virginity like something valuable, that has to be saved and protected. All "virginity" is, is evidence of sexual ignorance. Not so much something to be 'lost' but something to be gotten past. And once those urges and drives awaken, well it's just going against human nature to deny them – not only that, it wastes the most vibrant, sexually active years of our lives!

I don't know how old you are, Jenji, but I was born in 1947 back when the only forms of birth control was a condom and the word "NO". Outside that, it was easy to get pregnant. Nowadays there are other means of contraception but the old ideals still seem to take precedent. While I'm not in favor of kids going completely without sexual restraint, I still remember how hard it was for a boy growing up during the era I did. Hormones run rampant and the only relief was your hand (which was also frowned upon back then) and that only gave relief and not gratification.

As to religion and God, it seems to me that religion is one of the biggest forms of mind control there is in the whole world. The Vikings were made to believe the only way into Valhalla was to die fighting with a sword in hand. Others have been led to believe that if they died for their cause, there'd be a whole bunch of virgins waiting for them in the afterlife. Jeez, what rubbish. However, if the church (or whatever religious organization) can control your sex drive, they can easily control your pocketbook and they've been doing it for centuries.
