Ga. launches probe into bed-tax use

A state panel voted unanimously today to investigate three small cities because of repeated problems with how they handle hotel-motel taxes.

"Acting on advice from the attorney general, the board is instructing Dillard and Rockmart not to grant funds from the tax to community theaters, youth baseball leagues or chambers of commerce for their regular operations. The cities should have a contract stating how the funds will be used to lure visitors, the Law Department concluded."
Excerpt from the article is above. Apparently the tax money has been mishandled.

WRONG. The Chamber has nothing to do with collecting taxes -- that belongs to either city or county government and those in charge thereof.
