Depends on what kind of fish you wanting to catch. Personally i like fishing at Mendota the best. Try to find the spots where hardly anybody fishes and stay away from the spots that have been fished to death. Greenbrier river, new river, tug river, clinch river, cedar creek, tumbling, below grundy towards kentucky. Just depends on if you wanna camp out and fish, wade fish, fish from a boat, or just walk to a spot and fish. One big problem is so many ppl post their land no trespassing due to ppl leaving their trash behind that have fished there. Plz dont leave your trash and get another spot posted by a landowner. Then you have your trout streams if you want to catch trout, you can get on the department of game's website and find the stocking schedules

Great info, good sir. It's good to see fisherman helping other fisherman, especially one who seems to be knowledgeable of out area's waters. Tight Lines to you.

Some deep spots on the clinch river near raven are good. Witten lake stocks trout and channel catfish, and the bass and sunfish get big there.Theres supposed to be some walleys also.Lots of people go to lake witten though.

The Clinch river anywhere up towards cedar bluff and pounding mill is really good. Seems like the river is much colder up that way and it is a ton cleaner. Small mouth do really good up that way there is a lot more of small mouth up that way. I have had a lot of luck in raven/doran bottom/daw road too. Like tbe one guy said. It totally depends on what type of fishing you want to do. If you will specify a little more on what you are wanting to do I can give a lot more and better advice on what where to go and what kind of baits work well in each place.

I recently moved to Cedar Bluff. I have a bass boat, and I fish some small tournaments, but my passion is fishing for river smallies. I've noticed that Edgewater looks pretty good. I usually like to target riffles, eddies, and other moving water for smallies. Is there any of that around Raven? I hope to see some of you guys on the water as the weather warms. I usually go to Honaker and fish the stretch from the state department to that campground. When the water is dingy down there, the smallmouth are downright nasty to spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.

Yea man...i float that down through raven a lot. I use alot of tubes, worms and just any kind of soft plastics that ya like. The natural colors do very well down that way. Green pumpkin, pumpkin, watermelon, watermelon w/red flecks etc....up your way i do really well w flukes and you cant go wrong w gulp minnows. As far as tubes and grubs i do really good with white and black and watermelon/red fleck...i am sure you know some good stuff too. Just some tips on some tried and true stuff that I like. Good luck buddy

Ive fished the clinch all my life and from my experience the rebel crawdads do the trick every time... Occasionally ill throw a spinerbait in big water but mostly just rebel hard plastics they are hard to beat!

Thanks man. Hopefully we'll meet up on the river when it warms and share some stories.
