...your a f n idiot! there is no epidemic, a certain percentage (small) of people in any society will be "addicts" to one thing or another, but it statistically varies little; you listen to too much propaganda from the state, you must be a Lee (took it up the ol'.. and liked it, did ya?!) lacky, wtf cares if you are an ex-addict, get a grip, take responsibility for your past decisions and move the f on, not everyone is on drugs, by far, and no, their is no big bad wolf gonna come and eat your kids, dumb fukk sheep!

after reading these last posts i have come to the conclusion that there is no intelligent life around here.the one and only way to stop it is to quit giving them to anyone.too many senior citizens multiplying their income.

It is a epidemic of all the worlds prescription drugs 85% are taken by Anericans. We make up 5% of the world. I would think Richlands wouldn't make a blip on that figure. Washington State has stoped prescribing opiates to all but terminal patients. Since they did that the accidental overdose rate decreased by 50% . The Medical feild says they still don't know what the long term affect of pain medications are because they were not made for long term use. The only way to stop it is to rid the country of them. That won't happen because to many people are makeing way to much money.

So, punish the many suffering because of a few (look up addiction statistics over time, they vary here and there, but basically remain constant, you'll never rid of it)..may as well stop cigs and alcohol (again), the two biggest, by far and overwhelmingly, drugs of self destruction and death, period, f n idiots! P.S.-as the one poster said, the problem, especially for this area, is the way the problem is being fought (lmao), if they (money greedy big pharma corps and their slugs) wanted to, or gave a real shit about the "problem", there are far better methods to helping those addicted, the current way only makes worse criminals and lines the pockets of a few rich elite, get real people, stop being blind sheep!

We need to help those addicted . We need to prevent new addicts. The writeing of pain medacation has jumped 600% from 1998 to 2008. People had pain before then and they dealt with it in healthier ways. Pain meds actually lower peoples pain thresholds. A person with a lower back injury in the 70s,80s, and 90s had a much higher threshhold for pain than ones of today. This all started as Pharm reps started marching opiates into Drs offices and makeing it the norm . Think about it we are 4% of the worlds population and take allmost all the pain meds. Enough to overdose every man woman and child on the planet.!

Your evidently the f'n idiot here and most likely involved with drugs in some fashion from reading your opinion. Over 80 percent of all crimes that come through tazewell county circuit court are directly related to drugs. It is an epidemic here without a doubt. Ppl violating their probation, thefts, forging checks, robberies, selling their bodies and all their belongings for drugs, stealing from their parents, family members and close friends. It is a serious problem and epidemic in southwest virginia. How many ppl do you know that have ruined their lives or wasted years of their lives due to a drug problem. The damage that has done to ppl and their families is much greater than what alcohol or tobacco has caused in this area even though those substances are bad for you also.

Alcohol and Tobaco only kill more people because they are easier to obtain. This country won't make new laws that will upset big medicine. They don't want to piss off big Tobaco , Alcohol or Oil. If these 3 things required a prescription then people would do the same things to obtain them. I don't think you should lock addicts up and throw away the key. That's another of our lead industries privatized prisons. The big Pharm gets them hooked, then privatized prisons reap the rewards . It's a cycle that the money makers don't want to upset.

...Mr. Lee (haha, lmfao), I won't even comment on your ignorance, except to say that current policies only contribute to the crime problem, I'm not a blind, puppet slave to all the propaganda and all the BS! P.S.-don't touch drugs for y'alls info, believe what you wish, I only have issue's with current policy, not the sad, terrible, ugly truth to addiction and it's affect's!

...you're an idiot Dan (duh, squid billy), you occasionally say something smart and I was actually agreeing with you on the point that big pharma get's people hooked in a vicious circle, then they will cure you (Methadone and Suboxone, two peas in the same pod)with more dope that put's you in their clutches forever (they say short term, which was it's intended use, but it's too much of a cash cow to really be used correctly when one is in recovery), it's wrong and sad, that's all, don't get your panties in a wad...
