it made me sick to see how greedy the people were at grants the first day of there three day sale, people with buggy"s full of the flour, one lady had two buggy"s full of the chicken breast, sold out of the coke, but were getting a truck in that day,i felt sorry for two old lady"s who were waiting to get a pack of the chicken, there were three left in the freezer, so i got one and left the older lady"s have the other two.i wonder why grants can"t have this same sale the first week of the month, i"ll tell you why, they no that poor people have to have food, so they jack the price"s up, because they no they will buy it,is that why the rich get richer and the poor gets poorer, so i am asking grants to have this same sale the first week of oct, to allow the lower class people to have a chance to save a few bucks on their food, even the people that work there were talking about how greedy the people were acting, you would think that there would never be anymore food for them to buy.so i am asking grants to step up to the plate and help the poor people for a change.

I've been to a couple of those sales myself and the way some people behaved was just deplorable. One day I even saw people leaning over top of a poor man in a wheel-chair so they could grab those mega packs of ground beef. Finally, a woman offered him one pack of it as she put several in her own cart.
A sale at the beginning of the month is an awesome idea ...but I don't think it's gonna happen. Stores would stand to lose too much money that way. These stores know same as you and I know that poorer people do their shopping at the first part of the month no matter what the prices are like. They have to spend and most cannot afford to wait, and cannot afford to travel elsewhere in search of cheaper prices.

This is a business and it needs to make money towards the end of the month instead of just relying on poor slobs getting their checks at the beginning of the month.

Agreed! Sales are intended to drive sales not help lower/middle/upper class people out. They are held during the normal times (holidays) as well as periods of lower sales to help drive sales for that period and help the business' bottom line. If sales are already good for a given period (beginning of month), why have a sale? That makes no sense.

I can see equally from either view point- yes it seems that would be the logical way to do it to the untrained eye. But it isn't. I worked at Grant's for nearly two years- i went through nineteen of those "first of the month hell" cycles. And to give you a tip- a number of grants sale items are on a cycle. But besides that, have you ever shopped there the first wk of the month? We dont call it hell for nothing. Its a madhouse. Imagind adding the sale crowd to that madness and you wouldn't even HAVE a grant's for a week, because that's how long it'd take to clean up the mess. Workers have to stay and clean that store up after close every night. Try doing that on a sale night or the first of the month, then imagine it double or triple. They don't do it for spite. They do it because if they didnt, it would be a once a month kinda store

I hope u never know how it feels to be without. It's a very sad place to know you're not able to do what you want, buy what you want, etc. It takes a strong person to pull out of that but an even stronger one to keep from losing their minds while going thru it.

I know of no upper class people who would even think of being seen at Grant's. That is only a low class store for low class people. Upper class people shopping where mountainous red-necks abound? Upper class people putting up with that smell? We don't need to look for sales, we buy what we want when we want it.

you are so wrong, and full of yourself, as a matter of fact, most of the greedy people that were in the store the day i was there was of the upper class, that"s what this topix is about, or can"t you read,as you call yourself upper class, well that"s how they got to be upper class,by being greedy and robing the poor and middle class.your day will come, birds fly high, but they alway"s come to the ground,i myself will never shop at grants again, just for this very reason, keep it in the circle grants, that is circle of the upper class.

I don't shop at the Grant's here in Tazewell, sale or no sale. They're too expensive most of the time & some of their stuff is outdated. I don't know how many times I've had to point out that there was outdated dairy product still stocked for sale.

Apparently you know exactly how to become upper class. Then why in the world are you waiting for your first-of-month check? There is no robbing of the poor or middle class, hard word and determination. You are just a piece of lazy trash.

I have gotten home many times and realized the things I purchased were outdated..the only time I have found it worthwhile to shop there is when a major produce sale is going on...there are very good reasons some stores are more expensive than others (they need to make money to pay the employees to rotate stock and check expiration dates). As far as the sale for only the 'rich' goes...most the time all I see food stamp users buy is JUNK, prepackaged sugary junk plus tons of soda and chips, most stores sell these crappy fattening items at a two for one price throughout the year, so get over it. You can have your cake and eat it too and it'll still come out of my family's back pocket.
