What is the accreditation status of Southwest Virginia Community College? Southwest Virginia
Community College is accredited by SACS Commission on Colleges; however, the institution was placed on
Warning for six months following review of a Referral Report from the submission of the institution’s Fifth-Year Interim Report in December 2011. The Commission’s accreditation includes all components of the institution—all programs, branch campuses, off-campus sites, and distance learning programs as reported to the Commission; thus, the Warning status applies to the entire institution.
First time in the history of the college.
This is really real. I cannot believe that the leadership there has actually let it get to this. Shame on them.

i think the bus business is even worse.some way got themselves in hock to WCC and to pay them off gave them the travel bus that was donated to the college by somebody who had a kid playing on what used to be a basketball team.bet that donor really appreciates that.bet that is a real endorsement for other donors to give ha ha.cant just blame it on the leadership.the community has to take part of the blame for letting the crap that is going on up there to happen.seems like no one really cares anymore or they are believing the smoke that is being blown.in reality the leadership has only about 3 years left then they will retire and leave the smoking remains of what used to be a community college.only bigger joke than that is the chamber of commerce being used like a sock puppet to facilitate what is going on.when the college goes down they will be complicate in that downfall.everyone should remember that.

Things may be shaken just a little up there. The community is going to have the perfect opportunity to speak its mind as well as everyone else. Lets see who takes a stand. How important is an institution of higher learning that's successful and promotes community interest? Its time to make your move people.

The guy is a chameleon. Knows what to say and how to say it to make people believe that there are no problems. There are. All you have to do is go up there in the middle of the afternoon to see first hand. It is a ghost town. And I am not just talking about just students and the empty parking lot. Go and try to find some of the instructors. Slowly but surely the chameleon and his underlings are whittling down the off campus program. This does not work well for people with jobs and wanting to go to school. There is no empathy toward that group. The college is becoming an institution just for students coming out of high school at a time when job descriptions are changing and people need to be able to update the skills necessary to change with them. But when you have no vision you can't see that. The only vision the chameleon can see is retirement. No limits. No limits currently on how far down the college is going into the depths. Who is the jacka** that came up with that slogan anyway?

I would start with writing letters to James W.(Will) Morefield Delegate, Phillip P. Puckett Senator, Morgan Griffith Congress, Dr. Glenn DuBois Chancellor Virginia Community College System, then to members of the college board. Don't let your letter be a bitch session, have facts supporting your claims, change is needed soon.

all these people are aware of what is happening and seem to not give a crap.DuBois might as well be on another planet right now.know for a fact Puckett and Morefield know.Griffith don't act like he lives here.write letters make phone calls send emails and faxes send smoke signal shoot flares in the air it seems as if nobody gives a damn as rome burns if somebody else does get something done then all the people mentioned should be held accountable for turning their back on the college and the people who made it what it was before the torch was put to it.

Justice can be served and we can save our college. And it can be done in a legal and responsible way. The faculty have more rights and authority than they think. They should request and submit a vote of confidence. It can and will be done in a confidential manner. The results are to be published in al major news papers and on WVVA news. There is no reason to object if all is true in what you say sir.

The faculty is scared of their own shadow and ain't gonna do nothing. Some of the faculty have their face stuck so far up administration's a** that they haven't seen the sun in years. The only thing that bunch of cowards is worried about is their paycheck. When there isn't a college anymore then there won't be a paycheck.

The man speaks so eloquently with forked tongue, he should have been a politician. He tells the faculty what they want to hear, not what he is going to do.

Another Monday will come and go tomorrow and it will be one more day that the college circles lower and closer to the drain. Those of you with you faces buried up administration's a** keep it up. One day those a***s won't be there anymore. And neither will you.

The reality is that it "DOES NOT" have to be this way. These people have the ability to change everything. When the opportunity to speak up arrives. Take it.

It sure won't be any of the faculty speaking up. Some are job scared cowards. Some think they will have a position forever by sticking their face in the crack of the administration's a**. The community leaders don't seem to care. Some are sock puppets. Legislators are worthless as tits on a boar hog. If things are not going to change the college should just close because it is taking more to run it than it benefits the community. Let all those a** kissers find a job somewhere else. People can go to Highlands. They seem to have it together. People need to remember the legislators, community leaders and faculty members that turned their heads and let the dark day that is coming happen.

Not enough full time instructors for the amount of students. In Richlands News-Press. Not surprised. Going to get worse since more full time people are leaving. And now the high school dual enrollment students are counted into the enrollment. This place is in real trouble attendance wise. It has went from #5 of 23 community colleges 6 years ago to #22 as far as enrollment. Wonder why?
