Is it just me or is this wrong. If u are under at least 17 u should not have sex. 17 I can see that age having sex even though they still shouldn't be. The parents of these kids should lock those kids up and throw away the key. I didn't have sex til I was 19 and its the only person I've been with. These kids need to think about their actions and shouldn't cry when people call them whores because that's exactly what they are. You're not even old enough to have a job drive a car or have a damn period. Maybe if these kids would get pregnant at 13 that think they're ready for sex maybe they would've thought twice before ho-ing around. Looks like were going to have to start sex ed in the womb now.

If anyone is having sex at 13, it is the parents fault! Don't blame the kids when they have no decent role models. You should think things through before you post.

Thngs have changed, or maybe I just had good parents. I wasn't even allowed to date until I was 16 and then it was chaparoned dates for a long time. Why would parents let their tweens go out somewhere without accompaning them?

I agree! I can help but think how are these kids alone long enough to do these things? I know a lot of it is because kids are growing up with both parents working (I've heard after school is the most common time for this since no one is home)... Parents need to have their kids in after-school programs or with family or trusted neighbors that can keep an eye out.

Ok i'm just going to tell you all this now.... My mom was a great mom. But she was WAY too OVER PROTECTIVE!! I couldnt hardly date. I didnt have a real boyfriend until I was in the 12th grade because my mom made it so impossible for me to date. I never really got to go anywhere. My senior year was when i finally got to start going out in the evenings and hanging out with my friends more than once a week. And I have had a job since I was 15 and make average or better grades in school.

But you moms cant be too over-protective. Give your kids some slack. Especially your daughters. Its not fair that big brother gets to do everything and then once we get his age we cant do any of that. And another thing, you do need to be a mom first, but you also need to be their friend. My mom always left out the friend part and I couldnt ever talk to her about anything. And when I did trust her enough to talk about something and then her promise me she wont tell anyone.... she would tell everyone.

And just so you know how I turned out.... I lost my virginity at 15. I had several partners. But I am now happily married. I have the greatest husband ever. We both have jobs, nice cars, and have a beautiful house. No kids yet though just our cute little kitty and fish.

I know of a student in Middle School that already has a baby and she is like 11 or 12. It's so sad that babies are having babies.

Im not saying that all kids are hos but they are to young to have sex and don't know what they're getting into by doing this. My mom was over protective and it was a good thing BC I lost mine at 19 and im still with the same guy and never been with anyone else. If ur kids are under 18 they shouldn't be alone at all.

Parents fail when they are overprotective. Mine wouldn't let me do anything at all ever. Even at 17. So. at 16 i started sneaking my boyfriend in my house when they were gone for a few hours. They never knew about it. 12-13 is too young. BUT there is a reason they are this way. A few children can spoil the whole bunch. It starts out as one or two thats 11 one year, then the younger children look up to them, so the next year its more, then slowly more, and thats whats happened over the past 10 years or so. Not to mention the amount of parents parents that have multiple partners and are showing their children its ok. Years ago it was hidden from the kids, at least in the grand scale of things.

But, again, being overprotective with your child, will just push them to do more than they would in the first place. Talking to them and having rules is fine but just telling them no all the time and not listening to them and not letting them do anything, is a example of bad parenting.

Well I have read alot of these and in my opion yes some parents r over protective and some not so much. I think that kids that want to have sex should see first hand what girls do go threw having kids to young. Yes some might get lucky and not have kids but then there r some that end up having babies waaaaay to early. But the way I see it is I would rather be able to talk to my kid and them be able to tell me "hey Im thinking about having sex" that away I know and I do something about it. So far my kids have saw what kind of life some of these girls has ended up with and they want to wait but I did let them know that b4 they do anything dumb to come to me. If they r going to do that b4 marriage I dont want them to have kids without knowing that the one they r with is one they want to marry and spend the rest of their life with

I have to agree with you. I always told my kids the facts about sex/contraception in a protective manner. Not that they listened but most teens don't. I guess it's a rite of passage these days. The thing is I did tell them. When they reach 16 and begin to date 9 times out of 10 the boyfriend will be a lot more persuasive than Mom or Dad. My son was a lot smarter than the girls. He waited until he was 18 and had been with his g/f for almost a year. She was 19 at the time and it was a first for both. I don't advocate putting them on birth control at a young age, but if they're honest enough to tell you they are thinking about sex you should care enough to protect them. Herpes, syphilis, and other diseases are serious. I'd rather bite the bullet and pay for the condoms. Formula and diapers cost a lot more than a box of Trojans ya know?

I actually think that they should make girls take birth control once they hit 10. Or when they leave the 5th grade that way there would hopefully be less pregnancy in young girls that aren't even out of school. A lot of them are babies themselves.

I see the benefits of putting girls on birth control at a young age, but also disadvantages. Birth control has long term side effects. I don't remember all or them but if you google it you will see what I'm talking about. Also, some girls might think that just because they are on BC that Its okay to have sex

Yes that part about them thinking that its ok scares me to death. There r some cases with young girls that around the time the turn into a woman it is best to be put on BC cause I know myself that without it I could not stand the pain. It was so bad I would have to miss school the whole time and the doctor suggested it and believe it or not it did help I dont know how but it did.

Well my mom found out that I was having sex and put me on birth control at 16. I ended up getting a blood clot from it. So birth control can be very dangerous.
