It's called equal rights for a reason.

Again, this bill doesn't have a chance of passing. Everyone is getting worked up over nothing.
If anything it shows their desperation now that they lost the battle for marriage.
The GOPasaurs have to do SOMETHING to appease their bigot base.
I agree. Just finished reading some of your comments on the State Supreme Court Justices facing salary cuts thread. In that case the 3 GOPasaurs are keeping a campaign pledge to punish any Justice that ruled in favor of marriage equality.

That may be the case here but I think this is something of a new strategy. They are hearing talk of REPEAL in many states already. "Let the people decide" blew up in their faces, and I think even the "activist judges" gambit will end up backfiring in their face big-time if that story gets more coverage.

But they've been toying and brewing the "religious exemptions" idea for a while, just as they did with "civil unions". The newest ingredient to this recipe is using "religious freedom" as grounds for "religious discrimination".

To sum it up, let me add that I'm glad we've done so well in such little time with Same Sex Marriage. But we need to REALLY start pushing ENDA now.

As for this case, we need to stress that the law prohibits discrimination in public accommodations and as someone else pointed out if this were a case of a Christian refusing to serve a Jew or a Black, there'd be no talk of passing 'SPECIAL RIGHTS' laws.

If marriage equality can happen in 9 states then ENDA can definitely pass. There are more people who are for a fair workplace than marriage equality. If the gay rights movement would put an equal amount of passion in ENDA that they do same-sex marriage we may have ENDA sooner than later. The majority of Americans don't think someone should be fired, denied service, or housing simply because they are LGBT.

A gay person wouldn't legally be able to refuse an evangelical/Christian/Southern Baptist so why should they have a right to refuse gays and it not work the other way around?

As long as the GOPasaurs control the House, ENDA goes nowhere.

Sure you could, but you just couldn't say it's because of their religion that you're refusing them service.

It would mean job losses here in Florida. But then I guess you'd be happy having all the jobs go to undocumented workers instead.

But they can refuse based on sexual orientation, a way a person is born. We could not discriminate against their CHOSEN beliefs and lifestyle. It's a double standard and not fair.

Of course it's a double standard and not fair. The religious freaks need to discriminate against someone to make themselves feel better. Fortunately this bill will go nowhere.

Jesus broke bread with publicans and sinners, he kept company with outcasts of his society, and these people think they're following the Christian example by discrimination?????

I want to know what other "sinners" she refuses to provide flowers for.

A non-virgin bride
A couple that eats shell fish
A couple that has taken the Lord's name in vain
Does she refuse Buddhists or Hindu's wedding (they are breaking the first commandment)
How about a bride who's dress is made from more than one type of fibre?

Or is her "religious convictions" reserved only for the gay community?

Matthew, Chapter 6

1. Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

2. Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

4. And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others.

5. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

6. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Do civil unions really do what the anti gays said they would do?

Well well well. Looks like the claims by the bigots that civil unions will do the same thing as marriage is unraveling in KY.

Exclusive: Will a lesbian couple be forced to testify against each other?

I hope we get this to be a big buzz on the internet. It will be interesting to hear the usual suspects respond,(Hannity, Limbaugh, Nom, AFA, Robertson, O'Reilly, etc.).

Screaming about you and your wife IS screaming straight pride.

We already have jobs, raise our kids, teach them well and live a happy life.

Now we can do it with equal rights.
