Yeah, well....when they said we could vote for a guy who could dribble, they were talking about drool seeping from the corner of his mouth, not what he used to do with a basketball.

When things get tough, elect an ex-athlete. Yeah, THAT works.

NOT!

Actually, Dave Bing is a very capable man, with solid achievements OFF the court. Ever hear of Dave Bing Steel Company?

Still, being Mayor of Detroit seems like being social director on the Titanic. Good luck, Dave Bing, you'll need it.

YOU ARE AN IDIOT AND YOU OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING OF DAVE BING!

Let me help ... he started a business in Detroit after playing for the Pistons that now employes 500 people! If anyone can straighten out this troubled city it is him.

But what about winner ... lets hear about your great contributions to society ... besides spreading ignorance and hatred!

I salute Dave and hope his leadership leads to results.

The reason Detroit is in shambles is because of the breakdown of the family unit. Kids with no fathers is what destroyed Detroit.

With Detroit being as dismal as it is, I have no doubt Dave Bing will be able to show the city signs of improvement very quick.

Three reasons for people to live in Detroit: (1) It's not Oakland, CA; (2) Property is cheap; (3) All of the Detroit residents would be somewhere else if it were not there.

I just hope he acts on the problems facing detroit instead of blaming everything on Kwame and doing nothing for his first 3 months.

Then again, Bing has actually run things in his life prior to his role as the guy in charge of a lousy situation.

The Bing Group had a peak employment over 1000 people and did hundreds of millions in sales. Dave personally had a hand in providing affordable housing for employees (he built over 40 homes).

It's a shame that the Trib focused on a career he ended years ago.

"Democrat Kwame Kilpatrick, who resigned in September in a text-messaging sex scandal."

Well, I suppose that is one description. Kind of skips over some important bits though since sexting isn't a felony.

Yep, he'll turn it around in 6 months, in time for the next election. Sure.

Maybe Scottie Pippin or B.J. Armstrong for Cook County President, too. And we know Dennis Rodman has business experience with Trump. Could help both cities.

No a Succession of half wit mayors is what sunk Detroit among other things> I used to work across the river and Dave Bing should reverse the trend of idiot Mayors in Motown. At the very least its highly unlikely he will have an affair with his chief of staff.

Dave Bing made more money as a business owner than he ever did in the NBA. He played before basketball players got signed to million dollar contracts. We have a man who was both a successful athlete and a successful business man. How many of us can say the same thing? Before you try to peg him as a dumb athlete, take a look at his achievements after his basketball career ended.

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Leo

Why are you still fighting, Leo? Everyone else went home a long time ago, but you're still here pounding your fists on the table. Although you don't want to admit it, accepting defeat may be your most practical option at this point. Sometimes it's just easier to move on than to keep up the fight. When you're forced to restructure, at least you have a chance to redefine. YouÕl get the opportunity to start with a clean slate, so use it to your advantage.
