Walmart continues to lower the bar
Posted in the Richardson Forum
I made a mistake this morning and stopped by a Walmart to pick up some razor blades. It was my first visit to one of their stores in more than three years. I went out through a staffed register rather than one of the self service registers because I thought they might need to deactivate the anti-theft strip on the razor blades.
I was only half paying attention and handed the cashier a $20 bill. Immediately after the money changed hands I realized the price of the blades was over $2 higher than what had been posted on the shelf. I question her about the price and she said I would have to go to customer service. I was in a hurry so I told her to just cancel the transaction. She said she couldn't do that, and that I would need to go to customer service for a refund. I told her to call her manager over. Actually I had to tell her three times to call for a manager. Eventually the manager arrived and I explained what had happened. The manager look at the cashier and told her to give me my money back.
The look the manager gave the cashier was priceless. I reminded myself AGAIN to avoid going to Walmart in the future, but I gained an appreciation for the store managers that have to put up with these morons day in and day out.
I stopped shopping at walmarts about 4 months ago. At first I envisioned having to go to a half dozen stores to find similar items and values, but that has not been the case. This news article seems to suggest more are learning about the negative side of walmart, and taking their money elsewhere.
