The death penalty only has one "benefit": it allows some twisted people, who think killing a killer sends the message that killing is wrong, to enjoy their vengeance (although often the convicted killer often may actually be innocent, thus allowing the real killer to escape justice

But many people's brain remain more like that of a Neanderthal than that of a modern human.
