I like to know how some people can draw unemployment each month and not bother looking for another job but yet still keep getting money each month. Plus sell there pain pills on the side and not get caught. Where the justice

I think it should be monitored more closely-home visits, drug tests, resource ppl to take applications to the homes for them to fill out and turn back in etc etc and if you truly need them you dont have a reason to be concerned huh? If you dont pass a drug screen and there are kids in the home they need to be taken out of the home. We need to quit putting our govt into debt by supporting the deadbeats and this is not towards ppl who actually work and need a supplement cause times are tough. And I seriously doubt anyone is jealous that someone is on welfare...It could be a good system--it just needs improvements like everything else in this world.

I agree with friend....home visits should be a must. What gets me is these people getting assistance and going out and buying themselves expensive jewelry and what not! Doesnt matter if their children need something......as long as they try to look good!!!! SHAME!!!

please re-read your statement and tell me that its just not stupid---heeeellllooooo-- should there be kids in a home with a bunch of dope heads and if they are dope heads how well are the kids truly being taken care of--and do you think the assistance is being used for the kids

Food Stamps are a joke. I work in a local gas station and people come in using there food stamp cards to buy junk food ( candy, chips, soda etc.) and you will never see them buy a loaf of bread, milk, eggs etc. Then when these fine patrons use their food stamps the pay cash for their beer and smokes. I've noticed some of these cards have $100-500 on them WOW. My grandmother who was on a very fixed income was only given $13 a month. People that really need the assistance are unable to get it. Welfare reform is needed once again.

Well i do hve to say there are many people who smoke pot who do take care their children....MANY MANY people . There are many children in the system that are not takin care of from the benefits but who are you to say. ya know what if you was givin the decision to cut off someones foodstamp because you say that they smoke weed so they wouldnt take care of their child well you would be the reason someone child did go hungry. I couldn't like with that i would rather give my money to dope heads for their kids in hopes that it will be used on them instead of funding people across seas and weapons of mass destruction

Apparently I have hit a nerve with someone who receives help and does a little toking on the side. There may be a handful of ppl out there that can take care of their kids and smoke weed--its not the week smokers out there that concern me--its the pill heads, shooter uppers, sniffers, etc that concern me the most-if you are out of control of your body how are you taking care of your kids? Being there for your kids means more than just being in the same dwelling as them.

I do not get any kind of benefits. and hunny just so you know i know more than a handful who smoke and take great care of their children. See the prob with the drug testing is u do have occasional smoker who cud be denied help due to smokin a join it stay in your system 30 day compared to a pill that stay 3 days at most so all drug testin will do is get rid of someone who has smoked weed and who hasn'[t done that. Im not goin sa i dont smoke sometimes cuz i do but my child is WELL taken care of she has everything she needs and wants and then some. She has plenty of love and support . I have been helped by the state before and if i ever need it again i will ask for it . i work and am a full time student and mother i feel i have the right late at night to smoke me a joint if i want to every now and then. Helps my bipolar and helps relieve stress..

If you can afford to buy weed, or any other drugs, you can afford to buy food, therefore you don't deserve any assistance.

I could not agree more---if you can afford all those extra curricular activities you dont need assistance.

Public assistance doesn't put our country in debt!Tax breaks to the well-off,corporate tax breaks and loans to big business so they can give their overpaid workers bonuses. We hand out billions overseas to countries who hate us and do not support our policies. Our government throws away money hand over fist.
Public assistance is a drop in the bucket. If we are going to hand out money to help people, it should be our own citizens first.
Hardhearted individuals begrudging a poor person a bar of candy.Who, in their right mind is gonna buy bread and milk in a convenience store.Too expensive.
If my kids were still little, I wouldn't want a social worker in my house poking around. They love taking people to court to get their kids.Nothing worse than a well educated do-gooder.They think they are better than poor people.
Give with a full heart.

They are in the process of implementing a new stage in the qualification process. Drug testing. They are coming to a realization that some people are actually selling thier stamps to get drugs.
I'm hoping that this also tests for prescription drugs , and a prescription or notes from a medical proffessional would be needed to support the use of these said prescriptions.
I am on food stamps, if it where not for them , my family wouldn't eat. Before that I had to chose between gas to get to work or diapers/food.
I am currently taking classes at new river to get a degree. I'm taking steps to improving my life for me and my two daughters. We did not ask to be in the situation we are in now. They're dumbass father put us in our situation for a younger piece .
Its been said if drug testing was a requirement for assistance, over half of the people getting it would be dropped. Id like to see them test for alcohol use as well.

Did you know people who qualify for welfare can get 30 days worth of prescription drugs for 1 dollar!!. They busted a ring of deadbeats in the NRV last year for going to clinics, faking pain to get pain pills, then selling them to addicts. Did you know they also get a free cell phone, even if they have one they pay for? No wonder the country's going to the dogs.
