This crash makes no sense...the guy in the pickup pulled onto the shoulder? why? wasn't the Camry out of the flow of traffic and on the shoulder?

they should send this idiot to jail for being stupid behind the wheel . how can you not know if your driving to fast . he just made the wrong decision to try to stop , knowing that he may not have enough room . it was a bad call on his part . if the idiot had any kind of since he would have pulled over in front of their call . i'm sorry about the girl. she should of never got out of the car.

When you are traveling 70mph and then need to come to a complete stop, it is very difficult. Most folks never have to do it. Most folks are stopping quickly from 45mph.

I have a 64 Corvette with all drum brakes that are not power brakes. You do not want to try to stop from 70 mph. You jam your foot down and nothing happens. Only when you get down to about 50 mph does it seem to normally slow down.

You should NEVER have to stop on the freeway for any reason. Insanely dangerous for reasons like this that no one would expect.

Never pull behind anybody in the emergency lane, unless you are a trained CHP officer..Pull up ahead of the vehicle.Exit the freeway and call the CHP if you are following friends or family that have a diabled vehicle.Defensive driving classes always teach motorists how much stopping room you need but most motorists do not heed the science of speed and the weight of the vehicle.

So the driver of the p/u truck was her friend? This story is a little confusing. Very sad, I always see people standing outside their vehicles on the freeway when traffic is at full speed....I wish people would be more aware of all the possible dangers out there...
My condolences to her family...

This story is very confusing, but the most confusing part of the whole thing is... IF it is confusing because the story it self is confusing, or because the SGVTribune wrote it....
Very unfortunate sad incident, what I dont understand is for one, how you dont know your speed, in addition to that IF this was a last minute thing where he had to swerve to avoid hitting the car, shouldnt he had passed the car and parked in front of it, if he had time to go all the way to the right shoulder and not rear end that vehicle sitting there... he had enough time to break. Very sad though, now he has to live with that for the rest of his life, sure that wont be easy as well... Best of luck to all parties involved, may god give you and your family the strenght you need in times like this....

Does anyone know if the guy who hit her will be facing charges, if any? Involuntary Manslaughter, minumum dont you think?

Is it just me or is this just one of the many poorly written articles? The story is a bit hard to follow. Either way my prayers go out to her family in this difficult time. May God be with them always.

thats what i was referring to more or less . any body with driving scence can see , estimate if you can stop or not . its rational thinking . only someone that was timid when driving or asian would do some thing like that .

He pulled over because he was suppose to meet up with them and help her with something, I wish they all would have waited until they were off the freeway. but all three made a bad decision and now we lost maritza, she was a great person, loving, and always there when you need her.

Ouch! Its so unsafe to get outta your cars on the freeway. Your best bet is to just sit there in your car and call for help. What a tragic death. So sad :(
