Congratulations! This is probably among the top 10 of the most ignorant posts on this board. Hershey's decision has very little, if anything, to do with it's labor union. It is districtly a money oriented decision. Labor is cheaper in Mexico and China.
I worked for hershey and I agree with you!!! It's ALL about the money they can make. Milton Hershey NEVER wanted this to happen!!!

<quoted text>I worked for a Non-Union plant in Annville for 23 years came to work everyday ,did my job the best I could and did a fine job if I must say . After 23 years they came to me and 20 so other workers and told us we would be laid-off and for us to go look for a other job . They laid-off the guys that had 20 or so years there and kept the employees with less then 8 years . Why ? They don't have to pay for vacation and so on .
It also pays to be a Kiss-Azz and a Brown-Noser in a Non-Union plant so you can keep your job and get ahead in life. In a Union Plant you don't have to kiss-azz or beg like a dog.
I'll take a UNION PLANT ANYDAY .
I couln't have said it better!! Worked for NON Union and UNION and would take UNION ANY DAY. I worked at a plant for 10 1/2 yrs..Olivetti..and was told they would be closing in a year..I was one of the 1st to go...the line i worked on was being shut down. People who were there 3-5 yrs atayed for a year and had time to find another job. I was devastated! I had 3 children and in a weeks time...NO JOB!!!!

I work for West Hershey and let me say it's not a very good place to work. People are not happy and I feel this is what the company wants so you well quit.

Yes I'm happy I have a job but I hate working there.

Sad, but in order to compete, I guess Hershey has to modify its business plan.
Unfortunately, past union leadership never set the stage for company/union efforts to preserve jobs in Hershey.
COMPETE !!!!!

The Hershey Company is making over 20 billion dollars a year and they need to compete !!!!!!
