You are completely clueless...teachers don't make over 100k, don't get 100% of their salary at retirement, work FAR more than 6 hours a day and don't get free health care for life!? Where do you get your info? If there's a district like that, I want to work there! I don't know a single teacher that makes 100K!??? If you're going to post, at least make it plausible and get your facts at least reasonable if not correct!?

I take it this student as not in this kids class. He must of been in this teachers class before so he really doesn't know what went on this year. But it's nice he's sticking up for a teacher he liked.

This is about bad teachers stealing our tax money. 90% Earn over $100K, they work 7 months a year, 6 hours a day and get 100% of their salary at retirement with full health care for life. We need to end the insanity!!!!!!!!!!
You people attacking teachers or he kid are just weird. Sorry you hate so much. This is about a teacher that crossed the line and other teachers knew and did nothing. It's not about money it is about the kids and how this won't happen again. Give facts then something can change not until. Does this sound like a place you want your kid to be at? I hope not something went wrong here and it started with communication between teacher and parent. There was none, it sounds like the parent want to but how are they to know what's going on if the teacher does what he wants. I would bet if this teacher had a talk with parents and the conversed for 2 weeks. This students would of been done. But the the teacher would of been going after somebody else. Maybe your kid????? Something is not right here and it's not the STUDENT!!!!!

So you have a family friend who was at at closed school board meeting. And if you were in his class you would know there are a team of teachers at that school so I believe there were 4 teachers on his team. So did a teacher tell you you could go o a locker 3 times a day or is it inthe school policy. You change classes because you have periods you can't have book bags when I was in school we went to our lockers every period. No problems.
You can go to your locker any time between classes, as much as you can. But, if you go somewhere, you have to write a pass in the agenda that was given to you in the beginning of the year. You could only sign out three passes a day. Also, almost all teachers don't like if you were going to your locker in the middle of class because your not only interrupting learning, but you are losing learning time yourself.

Many who have posted opinions are correct in their assumptions regarding knowing all of the facts befor passing judgement on this teacher. The thing in this case is that Mr. North resigned before an investigation was completed...so we'll never know what the true circumstances were. Also, don't be so quick to blame either party without taking into account the toxic environments into which many of the schools in Reynoldsburg have deteriorated. With fewer resources, larger classrooms, frozen pay and an administration concerned only with getting pay raises, these kinds of problems will only escalate.

<quoted text>First of all, your saying that they don't know anything, when they were a first hand witness in the class? And second of all, this teacher that called the parents, how would they know whats going on when they don't see the class and observe whats going on? Did this teacher even have this kid? I think this student knows exactly what their talking about. Also, North was forced to resign or he wouldn't be able to teach anywhere else. I know this because of a family friend who was at the meeting.
The RSC doesn't determine if he can teach anywhere else, the State does. That is still to be determined. Also, I didn't say they didn't know anything, I said they don't know EVERYTHING.

I was in North's class this year with the student! North was not a good teacher. He wouldn't let us go to our lockers between classes, and wrote the student up for it but let some students go without punishment. He was unfair to the student, who i spent most of my time with. I never saw him chest bump the student, but he was biased and would send the student to the office for things that he did not do. For example, he got sent to the office for sitting next to a student when we did not have assigned seats. Yes, the student was a bit obnoxious and talked too much, but that didn't give North the right to only pick on him. Also, a comment earlier was about him getting thrown out of the d.c. meeting, the only reason he was thrown out was becasue the student beside him was making funny remarks to what the teacher said, but the student was picked out from the rest due to his reputation.
Good riddens North!!!!!!!!

So everyone, I had mr.north for 2 years. He would only get mad at students if they were misbehaving. Other than that he was nice and acted like a teenager. He loved talking about bears, and volcanoes. He was a good guy, all he wants is for his students to get somewhere in life, and not be lazy and work at mcdonals. He only cared about the well being of each student. Best of luck to you mr.north!
So you telling me that north didnt enjoy yelling at kids, really? I agree, i don't think he should have resigned, but i think he needed to calm down a bit, and be less angry all the time. He did want us to succeed, but he never taught us ANYTHING!

The kid you speak of, that innocent boy who just wanted to wear a hat, yeah not so innocent. I was in Mr. North's Honors English class that year, and so was that kid. Every student in the school feared Mr. North, if they didn't have him as a teacher that is. You see the students who had him(the ones who were raised to have respect and understood that If they broke a rule, they deserved the consequences) ended up getting along with him. I'm only posting this years afterwards because I was literally just talking to one of my friends from 8th grade about how much we loved that guy. So I searched the internet to see whatever came of this whole situation, and I found this page. This page full of comments; comments by people who had absolutely NO idea what was going on that year. Oh, and the teacher who was scared of "retaliation", well let's just say there's A LOT that could be said about her. But none the less It wasn't just this other persons children who loved Mr. North, it was the majority of his students. I have so much to say in defense of this man, obviously he left a huge impact on my life if I still stand here today, my junior year in high school remembering the great times I had in his class. Oh and might I add that this kid who North "bullied" all of the time, was out of dress code EVERY day! Mr. North corrected him EVERY DAY! Unlike most educators in today's society, Mr. North knew that the key to teaching and discipline was consistency. And apparently that kid knew the key to taking time away from class, was consistency in breaking simple rules. Funny thing is I know what happened in the classroom everyday, did any of you happen to know that mr. North and that kid would make jokes with each other? Mr. North, a teacher who never failed at doing his job, or find the time to correct a student EVERYDAY for the same exact thing, still found it in his heart to have light spirited jokes regularly with his students and that kid in particularly. That kid, was very smart too. He just never applied himself, no matter how hard North tried, which was evident to us all in the class, the kid refused to put forth his best work. I miss that man. he was one of the most respectable men I've ever had the chance of knowing, and I would love to be able to see him again and thank him for his example. One kid, ruined it for him...and it is that kid you speak of.

Joe hopefully he will not be teaching again since it is gong to the state let's see what they find. And please tell me what you know of this kid to say he's a trouble maker dud you teach at WRJH if so why did you let this go on are you part of the problem too.

I was in class with him. I know who the kid was and if anyone thinks it was racist let me just confirm the boy was white, as well as mr. North. Mr. North faced problems with this kid every day. Somedays he would try to find common ground with the student but our little "victim" kept pushin buttons. Mr. North was an amazing teacher who really cared about his students future. What happened to him was sickening. And the boy was the epitome of trouble maker. I've been in the Pickerington, lancaster and reynoldsburg school district(along with two private schools) and I've never seen a kid act more out of line then the one you guys are showing pitty toward.
