Yeah, but a lot of out-of-towners buy tickets. It's my understanding that a large percentage of the tickets are bought by people who don't live in Corning. That just means more money for the city of Corning and the projects that this money is used for.

Who pays taxes in Corning during the year?
Real Estate, Personal taxes and buys year round in Corning? Do you James Boyd from Georgia? My last year also!! |

i live in paragould and brought my son and a friend over for armband night..very good value..$15 for riding all rides for 4 hours..they had a great time |

i would be interested in knowing the percentage of people from corning who actually buy tickets..

I believe Mr. Boyd grew up in Knobel and helps with events (back home) when he can, as does the others from the area. How much do you believe we could raise in sales just in Corning?

How much revenue did Mr. Boyd spend in Corning during the last year? That's the question? Breakdown the figures. I would like to see that $$$$ figure compared to a person that actually LIVES here and WORKS here in Corning.

At least your winners are from out of town. Piggott's 4th of July picnic is to raise money for the Piggott Cemetery, and for years the person who won the truck there was related to at least one of the cemetery board members! One man had his daughter, a son-in-law, and his mother in law win, within a 7 or 8 year span. Lucky family, huh? They got to losing money on their truck giveaway, so this year they gave 3 $5000 prizes...I guess it's harder to rig that way.

That sounds better than this mess over here!!
I would like a chance to win just 1 or 2 $5,000 prizes, or how about 5 or 10 $1,000 prizes than to know every year an out of towner will be the grand prize winner of the truck..WOOP DE DO! Take every name of people who payes taxes in Corning and stick those names in the big ole barrel and see who wins! |

Holy crap- you are all a bunch of idiots. I bought truck tickets, many did in Corning. It has nothing to do with taxes or spending money- he bought a truck ticket, at least one. I watched the 3 tennis balls thrown into the crowd, those three people find a child from out of town, then draw the ticket. No way it could be rigged. The truck got paid for, the city benefited, be happy.
The people who pay taxes can't and won't pay for a truck. Out of towners to buy tickets, and that helps pay for the truck. They couldn't give away a moped for the tickets they sell to tax paying citizens of corning. |

If the out of towner won the truck, he bought a ticket from someone from Corning. That means he has ties to the community. I understand that Mr. Boyd has relatives here. Thank goodness that we can count on previous residents to help us sell the tickets that pay for the truck. If we had to come up with it ourselves in order to make sure the truck went to a resident, then all of the profits for the picnic would be used to pay for the truck and they would not be able to use the proceeds for the other good things they do. Would I love for a Corning person to win it? Surely.....because that would mean that it would be someone I know. I just hope it is someone who really needed it. That is what makes it sweet. I agree with "holy crap".....it could not be more fairly done.

I agree with friend. Mr. Boyd grew up here and still has ties here. Just because someone doesn't live here anymore doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to win the prize. All money collected goes to *Corning* so it shouldn't matter where the money comes from. Just be happy that there people out there that still comes back to where they once where. Plus we always have out of towners that come to the Corning 4th of July so that should say something for Corning.
