What has happened in the Joella Reaves case, the 11 year old girl beaten to death in a garage over the Thansgiving holiday in 2003? Why has there not been anything in the news since her father's attorney requested he be mentally evaluated? I wonder why the full story was never really released?? How many people know the following about Joella:

Joella was the result of an extramarital affair that her father had with a co-worker.

She had only lived with her father and step mother since the death of her mother less than a year earlier.

Her father had never played a part in her life and Joella had not even known him before her mother's death.

That it is doubtful her step mother even knew Joella existed until her husband was contacted after Joella's mother died.

Joella had 1/2 brother the same age living in the home.

We used to live in the same neighborhood that Joella lived and what happened to her by her father and stepmother was wrong!!!!!!!!! No child should go through what that poor child did.....From the stories that I have heard was that some of the neighbors that lived around her knew that there was something wrong but they did nothing.... Children are our Future!!!!

Joellas brother Rodney was in my health class and Joella was on my team. Team 603. No one got the whole story. I watched one of my teachers cry after find some school work she did. ELMS raised the money to give her a tumbstone. That was a hard week for my team and school. She came to school shivering and all the teachers put there coats over her and she couldn't stop. Joella was in my skills for adolence class. The only one in henry county. Joella was the sweetest girl i have ever meet and what happend was wrong. RIP

I was living in Atlanta when this tragedy happened, at that time i was going through some hard time but when i seen Joella face on the news i knew this story would be something i can never forget and my problems was small. Joella had a smile that just captured my heart. The 5 seconds that the picture was on the screen will remain as a memory for the rest of my life. I never understood how this could happen and now seeing them play this legal game with the evidence that was found is crazy. This beautiful soul never had a chance it seems like the people that should have stepped up to help her dropped the ball now the legal system can possibly do the same thing. To the family please know and understand that Joella is an angel that lives in your soul, my soul and everyone else that has been affected by her story.... god bless.

Almost 6 years later and finally her father and step-mother have been convicted. I will never understand WHY they did not get life without parole or the death penalty. This child was beaten and tied up in the garage. They said she was out of control and could not reach her therepist. My question to them is why not just call 911 and say they had an out of control child that was hurting herself???? Because the truth of the matter is they were angry with Joella and they let their anger take over and that is why this child is dead. If I were being treated the way she was being treated I would have been trying to escape too. If her psychological problems were so bad why didn't the school know and why had there not been any problems at school??? I think the fact is that her step-mother resented her being in her house and the only reason she was there was so the father did not have to pay child support. May Joella rest in peace now that she is in heaven.

Does anyone know the mothers name? I live in Milwaukee wis and my niece alexis patterson was abducted from a school playground and Joella reaves bears an uncanny resemblance to her. What's so strange to me is he said he got custody of her a month after my niece disappeared. How come nobody on the mothers side of the family has come forward and spoke about the horrific way that she died. And what courts did he go through to get custody of her. Especially if he didn't know about her. He would have had to take a paternity test before he was givin custody. That would not have happened in a month.

Hello. I am Jocelyn Carter, Joella's older sister. We have the same mother who passed away 13 years ago. Please do not think that I have no feelings toward the death of my little sister, I do.

I knew charlott for two years. I believe that she did this. She was a very mean and vindictive person. She looked down on people and felt that she was above it all. She had an underlying meaness and hatefulness to her. Bless that poor child.
