Three candidates have filed. A sheriff with a terrible record, a retired prison guard and a police chief. The current state at the SO is quite stagnant. The SO needs someone with experience, and fortitude to run the dept. So far, the only thing I have seen that is promising is the chief. Rick is his name; I cannot remember his last name (difficult to spell). Stone County needs a strong sheriff and not a “good ole boy”. The sheriff is constantly hiring and firing personnel, and is never in his office. A prison guard knows the prison system, but I am wondering if someone with no cop experience can make the tough calls. Maybe he can help Rick run the jail. Voters need to weigh the pros and cons of each person. So far, Rick seems like the logical choice.

I agree! Rick helped our family out when we could get nothing done at the county. The guy is down to earth, and he would be a great top cop for us. Oh yea, he is the guy that waves at everyone when he is working.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Aries

There is minor evil around today, whether it is harsh words or actions. Relationships with non spiritual people will tend to be abrasive, as you come to understand that such people can never be trusted, for their agenda is not love. Beware of criticism from colleagues or friends. Avoid being narrow minded and confining your views to the conventional. You may want to argue with everyone and everything, but beware of devouring your own energy in the process.
