You have either read this board or know what is being said on this board.

How about standing up and say what you think?

It is an open forum.

Politicians are supposed to be there for their constituency.

Please post something and attribute it to yourself.

If you don't, it's more taxation without representation.

I may run for office someday and I will call you all out on it.

Loving the fact that I was judged as nuts.

Asking the local politicians to state their position.

It is crazy!

Why would any one of them come on here and give their opinion? All that would do is open them up for bashing and insults. I know if I was any one of them I wouldn't do it.

Not looking for bashing nor insults.

Just looking for their opinion.

In this city, it is severely lacking.

If who they represent doesnt agree, then they need to step aside.

That's how politics are supposed to work.

It's hard enough to get a response from most of them when you send them an e-mail on a specific subject.

I agree. I've e-mailed a few people on the common council as well as my city councilor, and not a single response. I was just trying to find out how to get more involved. Unbelievable! Well, I'll do things my own way I guess!

Again, elected officials won't respond. Who would have thunk?
Id prefer any comment than nothing at all.
The political climate is changing and the incumbents will not be there to see it.
Sad to say it but it is true.
They had their chance and it was squandered.
I won't sit idly by.

Check out Ms Hanlon's "public comment" this week!

Nice job.

They all sat there and took their medicine with their thumbs up there arses as usual,.... Then completely ignored her comments in the meeting!

"Young Professional" got a word for you.

There was also a copy of a letter that Ms. Hanlon sent to Galvin's office printed in the Advocate last Friday. Her efforts on this issue make the CC look pretty lame. Oh, except for "Jr. Mayor" Mike of course.

As I start my second year on the Council, there are two issues on which I am focusing, to make sure they have the best outcome for the City as a whole. The first issue is to make sure that whatever happens regarding the site along Route 99 (whether it is the casino or another development), that it is right for our City and offers the best chance for new jobs and tax dollars.

The second issue, on which Alderman Robert Van Campen and I are working, is to make sure that the absentee ballot situation that has come to light in our City never happens again. Absentee ballots serve a great purpose when they are done in a fair and open manner, and not the way they have been handled.

I hope that you believe these two issues are as important as I, and I would like to hear your feelings on both issues - as well as any other issue that might be on your mind

Thank you,

Thank you Michael for responding and with two issues, great ...

Of course the casino issue is huge for Everett, huge !!! All the pros and cons need to be discussed openly and fairly, no back-stabbing, etc... Right now I'm not so sure if it is the right venue for this city...Face it folks, no matter how much 'income' we receive from a casino, our taxes will never,(like for eternity) will go down - that's just wishful thinking...
So I believe that it will be a 'no' vote from us when it's on the referendum.

Think: Lower Broadway, two lanes traffic in each direction (that is if they ever get the Alford St. bridge construction finished.

The waste bldg. that borders the Everett boundary - Boston's waste plant (thank you Mr. Mennino for that eyesore)...

Coming in off rte 93 - you think Wellington Circle traffic is bad now ? Another nightmare for commuters - and shoppers - those going to Medford, Arlington, etc.

Santilli Circle - I've lived here for ?? 50+ years, know the direction I want my vehicle to travel in but many times I get in the wrong lane or whatever - the big difference, I know how to 'recalculate' as my GPS would tell me !!! and I find my way into Costco or route 16 and/or 99 to get to Everett or Revere...That will be one huge issue there.

Fire Dept., Police Dept., ambulance,?? Whidden Hospital -- All emergency personnel will have to be upped (read - more tax dollars and benefits pkgs to these people = increased taxes...

More jobs at Casino/area: Could be, yes ... but good paying jobs with benefits ?? Doubt it...

People that go to Casinos very rarely venture off the grounds of the venue. If they do and manage to find their way into Everett Square...??? well there are a few lounges (too many in my opinion), no good eating places, in other words, what would bring people out of the Casinos ??

Would drugs be an issue, alcohol impaired drivers from the casino - alcohol and gambling can go hand-in-hand....

So I can't really put much of a positive spin on the casino issue...Can anyone ?

I'll address the absent tee ballots later today..Stay tuned...

I do give you credit Michael for responding and putting your name out there on a public forum...

yes i agree thanks for stepping up and letting us know you are here for us. Im more worried about the crime that's exploding in our city and the police and politicians who just seem to be going through the motions about it. Something must be done ALL must try harder to stop it.

What exactly are you referring to in terms of crime? I've heard of random incidents (the shooting on Main St and on Broadway by Tedeschi's, etc) Are these random events? I feel very safe where I live. What am I missing?
