They needed it for security work. The police have 40 days to say yea or nay. The law is the law and this has nothing to do with people getting ahold of machine guns like the nut had today.

The nut today didn't have a machine gun.
Connecticut still enforces the now defunct Assault Weapons Ban,
as does Mass, NJ, and 3 other states.

Auto vs semi auto gun used doesn't make it any better, or worse,

I just think some news outlets wrongfully report them as autos to up the shock factor (like that's even possible here)
and advance an anti-gun agenda.

Good bless the kids, parents, and everyone with has a heavy heart from this horrible tragedy today :(

The Everett police is so rude and you have to beg them to do something. I dont blame this guy for taking the EPD to court, although I do not like him having a gun, but good for him. Maybe this will make the EPD respect its citizens.

Someone is suing because they didn't get a license to carry in time for a job, what kind of job is it? And most companies deal with the paperwork in order for employees to be trained properly on using it, it's not really something you hand to an employee and say here you go, work hard today!thats an accident waiting to happen

I actually know this guy and yeah he is a bit young (21), but he is responsible and careful...

It is his right to apply for his LTC and the department is obligated to obey the law as well, so we'll see what happens here...

There are many more cases like this in other cities and towns throughout the commonwealth however.....

Again what job does that! None that I can think of. Lets just hand a 21 year old a gun for some job, not a reasonable request, the company should be dealing with it and traing provided befor gun obtained, which should be the case for anyone !

Actually you aren't handing him a gun. What he is getting is a permit.
The LAW states that the individual, not all individuals, can obtain this permit.
The CHIEF broke the LAW.....do you understand that?

If he gets a permit it is the same thing as giving him a gun,do you understand that?. I'm actually very intelligent and know that employers who require a gun are not common, they also are required to prove reason employee requires one, and a specific number of training hours completed. So the security company would have to provide training for a certain amount of hours and if was needed for a position the the company would have followed up. I'm not sure the security company to bright giving a 21 year old a weapon to carry around. I'm pretty sure that's not safe , many responsible and dependable people have shot people by accident,.

I've had my LTC for quite a few years now and can tell you it is a state law that you need an NRA instructor to give you a safety course approved by the state police.

Until then, no security company can train you or allow you to have a firearm on you until your issued a permit to carry.

Of course there is restricted carry: Examples---Target only, work only, etc.

Oh and by the way, my friend just got a job as a cop and is 22 years old. So you're saying he is not responsible enough to carry?

Please enlighten me here.

I'm happy your friend got a job as a cop at 22, I believe that is very young for a position like that, but there is a lot of traing that goes along with it, they are not just given a badge and a gun. TRAINING being the operative word. I'm not to sure security guards should be given guns unless the are delivering money to a bank or from, stores,or businesses.

Everett is stupid to allow the chief to act in this egregious and irresponsible manner especially now that the Supreme Court ruled against D.C. in favor of Heller. Everett is exposing itself to a litany of lawsuits against them which they will LOSE and which will cost them legal expenses they cannot afford.

Everett cops are corrupt. There may be a few good ones, but they are overshadowed by the ones that abuse their authority.

Cops Suck.....especially in Everett. Look at the salaries they make. They can't even prevent crime.
