Do you ever wonder where our local tax dollars are spent? I know I have. Therefore a request for the city payroll for calendar year 2012 including names, titles and 2012 earnings has been requested formally today. This is completely legal as it is a matter of public information and must be complied with. The City Clerk has received a request today from Muckrock.com asking for such information since it is information that the city is legally required to disclose. Any interested parties can check on the progress at https://www.muckrock.com/foi/everett-375/ever... Curious to see if city hall complies. They have ten days to respond.

Is Mayor DeMaria refinancing loans so he can pay bills he incurred to lower taxes and leave these problems to the next mayor?
How much does Everett now owe to the bond holders and other lenders?
How much more since DeMaria was elected Mayor?
Is he playing a shell game with the true financial liabilities he has incurred as Mayor?
There should be an accurate accounting of these matters so the tax payers know what is going on.
You won't read about in the local newspapers, that's for sure!.

I don't have a problem with city employees. I do have a problem with freeloaders and part time politicians getting benefits meant for full time employees.

It's going to be interesting, can't wait to see what you get. Does Everett do "an open checkbook" like the State does? Some State Authorities do it on their own to mimic the Transparency Act. Just wondering...( I know The Cities/Towns are separate entities).

I have a good from friend who works at City, works hard & is truly dedicated to the position but is frustrated with interference from this administration. I have no problems with the workers its the higher ups for me personally. I won't even get started with the building inspector Michael, that guy does not deserve his job & needs as many Ethics classes they can find. This city is squeezing the residents financially what about the elected officials that owe this City big? How do they vote on a Budget when they owe? Do they let the "regular" person not pay their taxes/water bills or are they allowed to rack up years worth like Frank Parker, School Committee VP who owes over $30,000. That I know for a fact.

If BADA's post is accurate about certain politically connected people being in arrears on taxes and water bills allowed to rack up, shame on the City.
A question I would like to ask if businesses with "friends" in city hall are afforded the same opportunity.
My guess would be yes. Unfortunately business licenses have to be issued each year and it would be a shame if there is money owed to the city and it is not collected prior to getting their renewal.
Try doing that at the registry.
How many average people are shocked to find out they have an old parking ticket they overlooked and cannot register their car nor renew their license?
Would love this issue to come at a council or alderman meeting.

One more thought, how about implementing a very simple policy saying that all business renewals must first be confirmed that they are up to date on all city liabilities before their license is reissued?
Sounds too easy.
Why would anyone want that?
Seems to work at the state level.

@Curious, you know what else I learned from that you cannot obtain a building permit if you owe on your water/sewer or taxes but the politician I mentioned was able too. when I asked about that I was told to contact the legal dept. which I did & the excuse, I mean, answer was ridiculous. I have the proof about my comments & I think us residents should do a public info request on each each elected officials status with the city. I don't even think they should be allowed on the ballot when you owe $30,000 plus as I feel it could affect how they vote on their budget, just my opinion.
