The only thing the Kasper law has done is make it Impossible for the honest person to get pain medications. one exception is it has run the price up on the street value. this should put plenty of money in circulation before Election time. I do hope the politicians taking the easy road out and sticking it to the man that has worked all his in low coal does sleep well. there should be plenty of drug money and drug votes around at Election time.

Now when you go to the ER room befor giving pain pills they will check the kasper files to see if you are on it. The drug store will check your Kasper file also. This will not effect the honest people who need pain medication.
You have idea what you are talking about. the honest people even with proof of major problems have been cut back or cut off pain medications already. This is one way of getting the street price up where some real money can be made. I never have but i guess i will start drinking to stop the pain. at least you pay the tax on it and they could care less how much you drink. It's a sad time when the politicians know more about pain then a medical doctor. that's all this Is. build more prisons KY. you will need them. If you can't honestly get help. join in with the drug heads. let the state pick up the tab for everything.

Well, let us know how that works out for you. Its a funny thing but the true addict never wants to try any alternative treatments that might help their pain like exercise, pt, hot and cold therapy. I think every one of you is happy as long as you have your pain pills, mountain dew, and cigarettes. So you're destroying your liver, lungs, stomach and teeth-if you have any left.

Oh, I disagree, It shows exactly who is lying about the number of controlled drugs they receive and the number of doctors they visit, oh wait, I forgot they just 'forgot' about them. It is a great deterrent and its already in the works to add Tenn and other states. You can run but you can't hide.

Just found out today that because of KASPER, my husband has to see our Dr. every month to get his ADD meds. He has a brain injury and the meds allow him to keep a job. Now the already expensive ($60/mo.) is even more so ($35 Office visit). This is before you count the 1 hour each way he drives from work to see the Dr.. I'm sure our insurance will love this too! Going back on disability is looking more attractive every day.

I get the feeling that we the tax payers are being bullied and told to suffer in silence. Drug abusers will always get their drugs, it is those who need them that are left with hard choices!

The new law does not require any increased frequency of doctors appts OR place any requirements on this. Maybe the doc is using this excuse to make more money.

The problem is that every Tom, Dick, and Harry goes to the doctor and complains of pain. How are doctors supposed to determine which patients really are in pain?

Because doctors are trained to determine that. One simple way to determine that is to check a patient's heart rate. A high heart rate in a patient complaining of pain probably means that this patient is actually in pain.

agreed !!! it is a epidemic and something has to be done . stop complaining it might just help someone in your family get off drugs or prevent them from ever getting on them . the complainers are the drug addicts trying to come up with reasons to stop it.

It would surprise everyone when the list comes out . teachers lawyers doctors police wait and see who gets caught.
drug testing for anyone with a job pretty soon. new improved test that are not so easy beat.

I find it more and more dangerous that ignorance is acceptable and Pain is not...For those of you who think this is a great law let me give you something to think about...your mother or father or one of your grandparents heck lets go with YOURSELF has a heart attack today and is in need of open heart surgery, the surgery goes this way they cut you open break your breast bone, fix your heart and put everything back together seem OK so far right ? After spending a week in the hospital Crying out in pain and begging for something to help and they you you just the bear minimum to shut you up more than anything not looking to good now is it?? Now they release you from the hospital after a week you have stitches or staples from your stomach up to your neck it hurts to breath, wear clothes as they are touching where you have been cut and as you are discharged you are still begging the Doctors, nurses anyone for pain relief so the Dr tells the nurse to give you ONE LAST SHOT OF PAIN MEDS AND HE MAKES THIS ONE A LITTLE STRONGER.....wow your some what out of pain now they are going over the discharge paper work with your family and your family member or yourself ask about what pain medication you will be taking at home and the Doctor say Tylenol well you already know you have been in Hell for a week and that is not going to work so you ask the Dr why I need something stronger and he looks at you and says the following ' THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO I CAN NOT WRITE YOU ANY PAIN MEDICATION EVEN THOUGH I KNOW YOU WILL NEED IT AND WHEN ASK WHY HE SAYS AND I QUOTE BLAME IT ON HOUSE BILL 1.....TRUE STORY....SO ALL YOU WHO THINK THIS IS A GREAT LAW THINK AGAIN !! Not all pain or chronic conditions are helped by those treatments and I would hope most people with serious conditions would consider those options before they even sought using prescription pain medications as a solution. Cutting out caffeine (mt dew) and other toxins (cigarettes) is one of the first suggestions for healthier living and in many cases used to rule out the source of th epatient's pain. The cost and availability of pain medication is not congruent to a long term solution for pain management and alternative treatments can be even more costly because they are not covered by insurance. So if someone has resulted to pain medication as treatment, I hardly think uneducated, uninformed people with no familiarity of chronic pain should be able to decide what option is available for the entire state.

I totally agree with u but how the heck do we fight it? I meant the law makers when I said ignorance is bliss. My mom suffers daily she is in her 70's and can barely walk now because her family Dr gave her 10 Lortab 5mg & referred her to a specialist in the same month. The specialist gave her another script for the same medication, she filled it not knowing it was wrong & now she is on the Kasper list & can barely walk. What can we do it is crazy. We can still go down the corner here where I live and buy from some dealer but I wouldn't but to see her in so much pain makes it tempting.
