If they are actually discussing restoration and preparedness, they should look to what they have lost in the past 30 years or so. Our forests used to be selectively cut by loggers providing both clearing of larger trees and underbrush and jobs for our locals. Now all the "selective" cutting is done by forestry and dumped on the bed of the forest. Supposed cutting for fire prevention is anything but that, since they leave most of the cuttings on the ground where these Junipers and other unwanted trees usually burn much hotter and create an even worse fire environment. Is the forestry checking everyone of those trees for the spotted owls? NO,
they are indiscriminately cutting every tree in certain distance from the others. Why can't you allow our loggers to do this job? Oh thats right, they are not Federal and State forestry dept. people. They are just out looking for work.
