Greetings to the forum members of Republic.

I am a (partially disabled) US Navy Veteran of Enduring Freedom.

Some friends and I have been looking at a place to try to establish an "Off the Grid," (OTG), "back to nature" community. One of our members, a young lady, to a trip out to Republic, and she feels this would be a great place for us to set up. So, I've gone online, to see what all I can see, and came across this forum.

I see that it's a nice looking small town (under 1,000 from what the site says). I'm wondering what sort of employment or other such income opportunities are available, or in the nearby towns.

Thanks for taking time to read this!

It doesn't sound like you are strapping ore miner, so to be real about income opportunities here, you are going to have to bring it in yourself. Internet access is pretty poor (and expensive), so that really rules it out as a basis for any real business. The only alternative is some sort of trade skill, but given the nature of an environment like this, if there is a need for a specific trade skill, it's pretty much been filled already (and unemployment is very high out here). There really aren't any nearby "towns", unless you consider a 40-60 mile one way trip nearby.

While there is a significant number of homesteads that are off the grid, they are generally strongly conservative and not what you would typically consider the "back to nature" or "pro-wilderness" types.

All things considered, a "back to nature" group might not find the warm shoulder out here they are looking for.

This probably isn't what you wanted to hear, I am just trying to be realistic. Best of luck to you wherever your boots take you!

I wouldn't encourage anyone to come to Ferry County. I believe criminals are masquerading as Law Enforcement here. One Ferry County deputy outright lied to me and I reported him to the Sheriffs' office to no avail. I've been burglarized repeatedly and I believe the criminals are connected to the Sheriffs' office here. I've even found stuff that they have planted back in the house. If you know what's good for you stay out of Ferry County...... or you can always join up with the criminal law enforcement / Homeland Security connected elements here....

Well at least one disinformation specialist has revealed himself publicly on this forum.....

Also:
By the way "Paul" ( AKA ?????):
I don't have any "drugs" to sell anyone here. But the likelihood exists that government agents will always be around to plant things on people and their property in Ferry County, as well as in other locations in Washington State.....and try to silence people and smear them anyway they can. But God Knows the Truth in All Things! & Also Knows the Criminals Who Are Masquerading as Law Enforcement Down Here on Earth!

You might want to read "Code of the West" on the Ferry County website for some hints about living in this area.

try contacting the tonasket community cultural center for more info on the area and possibilites. Oroville used to have a "hippie commune" called the circle and there are still a few people there from what I have heard. lots of different people in tonasket area and not much in the way of employment and almost no internet options ( I live in town and best option for me is an air card thro cell company about $80 a month).
